helpful product potentially....

Post by scoobysnacks »

My friend is a biomechanical engineer and owns a biomed company which produces a line of sexual dysfunction products for females among other patentable products.

We were recently discussing my chronic prostatitis / chronic pelvic pain syndrome issues, what has worked, what hasn’t, and I mentioned I had a cream that was prescribed by a proctologist that had cortisone along with some stronger numbing properties that was very helpful to rub on the soar internal muscles after trigger point therapy. He was intrigued and we got to discussing an OTC product that might work the same way.

Do you think such a cream that would also double as a lubricant would help? For me it seems to speed up the soarness recovery, allowing me to treat more often, and loosens the muscles more quickly.

Was wondering what you all thought about this............

At this point I'm not sure what ingrediens can be sold OTC and what can't, but I was going to maybe further delve into this with him. I find that Prep H somewhat helps but not like this cream I had received from the Proctologist, but the doc is annoying about coming back each time to see him, and he isn't helping me other than getting this cream.

This can be very promising. We have talked before about prep h helping with symptoms. Right now, after passing a bowel movement and passing urine while I'm taking a dump, I get irritation in my Sphincter and perineum? Still not sure why this is. I think it's the Sphincter passing the bowl that irritates the prostate and surrounding tissue?

I agree before my symptoms went full speed ahead my only symptom was irritation in my prostate of that area after taking a deuce. I thought I had a prostate issue, but in retrospect it was the sphincter becoming overly tight and as the stool passed it irritated this tissue which in my opinion refers pain to the lower urethra/prostate area.

I think we share similar symptoms.

Tim Sawyer responded back to me and said a lubricant with lidocaine would probably prove helpful.

I would think the initial workup by a skilled PT could not be performed with this type of aid, since you have to be able to tell them where the pain is, but as we go home and treat ourselves I have found simply the application of Prep H after or during internal treatment to lessen the flares and the soreness, which I believe 1) allows me to treat more often and 2) suffer with less irritative pain. And Prep H has no pain reliever or blood flow inducer, simply a very mild anti inflammatory I believe.

I also have some other ideas for ingredients that have been medically proven to increase blood flow to muscle tissues and these are all over the counter. And we know that increased blood flow (and breaking the pain cycle) is what we are after. Its a one two punch, trigger point release and then natural ingredients that draw blood to the area.

I am meeting with my engineer friend next week over lunch to discuss the product to see if his company would be interested in this. At the very least to see if its a possibility. Next steps would be a prototype and trial tests. I think there is a fine line in the states between FDA approvals and OTC things. He is going to explain all this to me, not my area of the law.

Just want to make sure I'm on the same page. Can you apply Prep H inside the anus in the area around the prostate? I thought it was for external use?

I use the Preparation H gel for external use and find it superb.

I've recently tried the Preparation H suppositories and found that they causes a burning/hot sensation in my rectum - not the soothing/cooling sensation I was expecting (as I get that from the external gel).

Anyone else had this experience with the suppositories? Is it normal?

Richard.

This is the kind I get. It better be for internal use, lol, as they give you this long applicator, about 1.5 inch, maybe a bit less, that you can insert. I insert this and I also use this to gently stretch. Once the ointment hits those muscles they are much more pliable.

I've never massaged into the area near the prostate though. But, the applicator is pretty long so I bet when I squeeze the tub some gets down by there.

I do think they make a gel or something that is for external only it comes in a red and yellow package the stuff I get is in a yellow and blue package like the link above.

Hope that helps clear some things up.

Yes I had this, but for me that area (just inside the rectum) was very irritated, so itd burn for a bit and then help them release. But, I like the cream better as I can squirt in in deeper and aim it with the applicator then massage the area. Its working for me. I wish it had more pain killing properties and some things to draw the blood to the area.

That's the type I just got and I use my gloved finger and insert just in the rectum about 1/2 an inch right now. That area is irritated and it did burn, but went away. So I know I have the right product.

I did some Internal PT last night for the first time in 2 months. I mainly focused on the area bellow the prostate closer to the anus. It gave me the sensation of having to urinate when I was done. Today I feel good, so I know I released some muscles. This is the area I will work on and do a once a week thing and use the Prep H....

Carl,

Its based on my results with the Prep H cream that I believe a better product could be developed for chronic prostatitis / chronic pelvic pain syndrome suffers directly. I have a meeting with a biomed engineer on Thurs. He told they apparently already have a patent for an IC product that contains some sort of instilled L-arginine. I dont know if they are actively using it though, we didn't get that far in, but he is familiar with these typs of issues.

Ill keep you posted.

Ah - sounds like the burning is normal (if irritation is there) and shows that I probably need to try them for a bit longer.

One thing I want to mention here is that Travell states that hemmorhoids can be a perpetuating factor in TrPs, so I can see how a suppository might help.
