Antihistamine Recomendation

Post by jamesd »

Can someone recomend a specific antihistimine (or two - by name please) that has is both helpful for CP/allergies and not likely to cause urinary issues? My Dr. suggested claritan but I would like to hear what everyone has to say.

Thanks for any input you can provide - please use brandnames for these drugs since I am kind of new to antihistmaines and the chemical names are meaningless to me.

Thanks

That's the rub right there. Hydroxyzine has been successful in treating IC but Theorides writes that modern antihistamines don't work. However there has been some use of Tagamet in IC (H2RA) and anecdotal evidence that Zantac can help.

Maybe you could get some info together and take it back to your doctor, who seems willing to help?

Not sure what Hydroxyzine is?

Can you please put it in product name terms.

What do you know about Claritan?

Thanks

I suggest you use a search engine like google to find answers to questions like "what is hydroxyzine". It's trade name is Atarax or Vistaril.

Claritin can be sedating for some people. I prefer Allegra.

There is a lot of discussion of these drugs on this board. Please read it before asking more questions.
Good News! The great ProstaQ is BACK at last! You must try it.
