Best seat

Post by brettboz »

Hi, I like most of us have to sit all day in front of a computer. I have a normal run of the mill office seat, also have a doughnut cushion and also have normal cushions I sometimes use.

But I can't really tell which of these combinations is best for the problem, anyone got any ideas?

Age, 44 onset age 37 Feb 2006 Freq. need to urinate. Sensation of having to urinate soon after going. Perineum discomfort/burning/tightness, pubic area discomfort @ times, poor urine stream, post urine dripping/spray. All symptoms have improved with my protocol. At the worst I give it a 1 to 2 on irritation and discomfort and frequency. Helps: Elavil 5mg for anxiety and mast cell protection, (will only take it as needed) self internal PT as needed, stretching, walking, stairmaster cardio workout and light weights, reducing stress, moment to moment relaxation, deep breathing relaxation and using a Theracane. Makes worse: sitting for long periods, stress, over focusing on it. Currently 95%-98% recovered. Stay positive, relaxed and control your anxiety.

Yeah almost 100€, I have the standard doughnut and while it relieves pressure in the middle it creates it on the back of my legs and I have TP's running down there, the thera-seat looks like it doesnt place so much pressure on that point so my be of use. I also tried one of those ergonomic seats that you put pressure on the knees, but my PT told me my knees are screwed up and indeed she believes my chronic prostatitis / chronic pelvic pain syndrome comes from the knee damage so I took that seat back.

The main reason why I like the thera seat is it's flat and evens the pressure on the legs so they get less sore. It's also very portable and discrete. I have taken it on airplains as well with out anyone noticing a toilet seat style pad that stands out like a sore thumb. It's great in the car as well. The price is a total rip off if you ask me for a pad and a cover!!!

Good luck...

i sometimes put a folded(4-8 layers) cardboard box under the back legs of my chair, somehow it makes it more comfortable for me. It's been kind of like catch 22, if I find a position in the chair that doesnt press on my pelvic muscles too hard , then my abs and back seem to tense up and vice versa.
That pelvic floor seat cushion didn't seem to work for me, kind of made it worse

OK, too lazy to change my signature, but my sympoms have improved significantly, some went away competely. Old sig below.

Age: 27 | Onset Age: 23 | Symptoms: differ from year to year, anal/buttocks pain(especially when moving around/walking), burning when pee every once in a while, muscle tightness after peeing, sometimes but rarely burning after,, but no urgency , i pee about 4-5 times a day. Stomach bloating, hard to pass gas, occasional sharp pain in right side lower abs.

Helped By: alcohol(maybe i am wrong about this one,, helps some symtoms, possibly makes other symptoms worse), water, Beer always cures urethra pains/burning.
| Worsened By: showers, defecation, massage?, stress, winter, early spring, Snapple diet iced tea?.

Makes no difference: sitting(try putting something under back legs of your chair to tilt it slightly), masturbation(2-3 times a day usually),(update, now down to 1-2 times a day), used to ride bike without a seat on for 4 hours some days 3-4 days a week- no problem, spicy foods - no problem, 3-4 cups of black tea a day- no problem

I use an Oregon Aero SoftSeat which was recommended by another patient (airline pilot) of my PT. I have both the 1" and 1/2" versions. The 1" is good for office chairs, while the 1/2" version is good for the car. Out of all of the other cushions I tried, I like this one the best.
