Capsaicin (cayenne pepper)

Post by Caretaker »

Has anyone tried to see if it improves symptoms? beside acting as a pain killer, it also stimulates blood circulation so I imagine it could increase circulation in the pelvis and reduce any hypoxic conditions that may contribute to nerve/muscle damages.

:?:
Age: 37 | Onset Age: 37 | Symptoms: variable but include: frequency to urinate, discomfort in tip of penis (including occasional tingling), pelvic pain, pain in left inner leg/left testis, heat and sweat between legs | Helped By: Q-Urol or Prosta-Q, taurine, hot bath, not sitting long hours, red wine (high in Quercetin I think, which reduces voiding a lot), stretching legs, pidgeon pause | Worsened By: sitting long hours, sitting in car .

Now I am cured!! Search for my posts on Harachair and squatting. I believe the symptoms are all caused by a misalignment of the pelvic bones that strains the muscles.

At one point I was about to start that lemonade diet variation proposed by an author of a prostate health book. This author advocated adding cayenne pepper to the drinks that form the basis of the diet. As it turned out, after researching the diet I decided it might potentially cause me more problems than it was advertised to solve. So I gave it a miss.

Nevertheless, I did look into the cayenne pepper side of things and I did try it. All I can say is that I don't think it did anything to help my condition, but it did make some unrelated things worse (it aggravated my throat and tonsils, even though I used it in extremely tiny amounts). If it does act as a pain killer, I certainly did not notice.

JonP,

I did the 8 day fast with the lemonade and cayenne when I thought this was all my prostate. But, I also did it to rebuild my GI after ABs ripped it apart. It worked for the GI, but not the pain, but since mine was so tied to the muscle tension problem, not diet or cleanse was going to help.

Regards,

Ss

Capsaicin burns terribly. It is okay to use it for arthritis for example but it is unthinkable to use it in the genital area.

Age:37 | Onset Age: 35 | Symptoms: pain in testicles that comes and goes that also switches sides-trying to find a pattern as to "why" this happens/Rectal Burn at the 6 O'clock position at my anus which tends to flare around the periphery of my anus typically after defication but no perineum pain-no "golf ball" pain. Pain in testicles worsens as I sit but not always...Pain is not always present but depresses me. Pain used to be at a very high level but has subsided in time to a low level but has not gone away. Pain used to flare after sex but not as much as before although it still like playing russian roulette./
/Lack of SleepHelped By: I haven't found anything that has helped to my knowledge. Tried many many sessions of PT, accupuncture and chiropractic care but still have not found steady relief that takes me back to a pre CPPS state.

Yeh..after reading that first book I thought it was all in my prostate too :-| I am glad that diet helped you a little anyway. It really worries me though - practically all the energy intake for the whole 8 days is nothing but sugar. If anything, too much sugar actually increases my pain rather than helps it.

But it was this info here that made me question whether it was the right thing for me to do:

http://www.fungusfocus.com/html/modifie ... e_diet.htm

Mind you, we can't win with the foods we eat these days. The above link recommends reducing the sugar with products that are artificially sweetened. But I wouldn't want to touch those either, since those chemicals have been linked to heart problems. I've basically cut out all artificial sweetners - period - and just make sure I never add any sugar to anything and try to eat things where the sugar levels are low to moderate.

Treatments are being developed that involve instilling capsaicin directly into the bladder; I haven't heard of it being effective for pelvic pain when ingested orally.
Started: Spring 2003; high urinary frequency and pain associated with bladder filling; urinary hesitancy; pubic/prostate/perineal discomfort; Helped by: trigger point therapy, Afrin nasal spray, Cymbalta, hydrocodone (small doses), distraction. Makes worse: sex.

Not medical advice. Consult your doctor.
