Ganglion Nerve Block

[pain help]

I am a patient of Dr. Shoskes at the Cleveland Clinic. After trying Flomax and Quercetin, (Same treatment as previous Dr.) with little to no success, I went to Physical Therapy, then Pain management at the Cleveland Clinic. They did 3 "Ganglion Nerve Blocks" and discussed "Burning the Nerve". On the third block, there was a problem. I did not have an IV, so I was completely coherent during the procedure. The person performing the block was not the Dr. who did the first 2 blocks. They take quick "x-ray" photographs to see where the needle is. There was a problem. The Dr. told her she went to far. I then heard her state "I bent the needle." The Dr. then ripped the needle out (very painful) shot me in the back again with a shot of numbing agent and performed the procedure himself.

They deny there was any problem and that the block was a success. Then why am I in worse pain then when I started PM? Why do can I feel the area around my tailbone where the needle was? I did 8 months of PT, and lost control of those muscles after the failed block...The Doctors office stopped returning my phone calls, and I ran out of my prescription of Neurontin - this was very bad as I was taking 3600mg a day. I was throwing up and shaking when I was out. I felt lucky that I am from Cleveland and could go to the Cleveland clinic for help...but look where I am now. Can anyone comment on this???

I recently went to a Pain management specialist at the Cleveland Clinic. I feel the results have been negative and set me back in my recovery. The doctor was so vague on everything. I actually received my first injection the day after my first appointment and meeting the octor.

Looking over my statement, this is what it says:

9/18/06: New office visit
9/19/06: Fluroguide for Spine Inj.
Injection for nerve block

10/24/06: Fluroguide for Spine Inj.
Nerve Destruction

12/01/06: Inj. Anesth, Gangli Impar

I was never sure what all of this treatment meant. The doc has referred me to a psychologist after I reported negative results.

Surgical nerve treatments are notorious for taking a long time to heal.

That said, I don't like the sound of how you were treated (inexperienced staff, needle overpenetration and deformation, brush off, etc). If that happened to me I'd consider consulting a lawyer.
