My PT gave me this machine -- well, actually, you have to rent it. It's pretty pricey ($200 a month). I've been using it for a week, and it seems to help better than anything I have used to date.
It's from Rehabilicare, and is called "IF 3 Wave"; it's like a TENS Unit but a lot stronger. You place electrodes on bothersome triggerpoints, and it does loosen the areas. (It is so new, no insurance company is paying for it yet, natch.)
Anyway, my tough external spots (the quadratus Lambrum; the gluteals, the pelvic bone and above the bladder) seem really to be helped by it. Again, it's only ben a week. But my urgency went down, my PT said that she felt my muscles had loosened, and I just feel better. (I use it in conjunction with a heating pad.)
Again, I'm still stretching, taking baths, doing PT, etc., but this is nice to add-- it's given me a few times where I felt really good, as in normal for the first time in a while. (Of course, this didn't last long, but I'm hoping.)
If only I had time to earn my living, I'd feel awesome.
