Rectal discomfort
Can anybody tell me if they have experienced any rectal discomfort with their condition, because although the pain in my penis and bladder discomfort is abating,I have a constant discomfort in my rectum which times can be quite severe like a sort of burning.I don't mean perineum pain either. Its quite strange, but when I have pain and discomfort in my penis and bladder area, the rectal symptoms disappear!I presume they are all linked.A uro who did a digital rectal examination said that my prostate was fine.Normal size, but it hurt when he carried this out.Is this conclusive.? My urine is showing no sign of any bacteria present. Its been 7 months now almost and I'm getting very fed up. I would appreciate any replies, thanks Glenn and take care everyone. I am currently in contact with Dr Dimitrakov about sending my samples for analysis.Have any other readers done this and what was the outcome?

Pain can get referred around the pelvis by a phenomenon called "cross-talk". Read this topic:

Re: Rectal discomfort
Yes - 2 distinct kinds. When my prostate was badly inflamed I had a burning sensation deep in my rectum, which felt like it was my prostate pressing against my rectum, and it felt almost like having a foriegn object lodged there.Glenn wrote:Can anybody tell me if they have experienced any rectal discomfort with their condition,
When my prostatitis cleared up I was left with another type of rectal pain, much nearer the 'surface' and it felt like a more left hand sided phenomenon. When my physio did an internal exam, he palpated the muscles on the right hand side and said they felt normal, and also I experienced no pain. However, when he did this on the left hand side even the slightest pressure caused extreme pain. He said that when he palpated the muscle it was in such a state of spasm/contracture that it felt like I had an iron rod running parralel to my rectum! (I think the muscle he palpated was the pubococcygeus).

Re: Rectal discomfort
Sometimes CP can be caused by muscle dysfunction/damage on the backside that in turn causes nerve damage. You should consider having a physical therapist examine your pelvic musculature. I too had burning in that area, and my prostatitis turned out to be caused by involuntary muscle spasm caused by excessive bracing and sitting. It couldn't hurt to look into it.Glenn wrote:Can anybody tell me if they have experienced any rectal discomfort with their condition, because although the pain in my penis and bladder discomfort is abating,I have a constant discomfort in my rectum which times can be quite severe like a sort of burning.I don't mean perineum pain either. Its quite strange, but when I have pain and discomfort in my penis and bladder area, the rectal symptoms disappear!I presume they are all linked.A uro who did a digital rectal examination said that my prostate was fine.Normal size, but it hurt when he carried this out.Is this conclusive.? Tom - What treatments did you attempt for that condition...something to relax the muscles? Did it work?
Also, can you e-mail me ([email protected]), 'cause I have a few questions I'd like to ask you about that...
Thanks

Re: Rectal discomfort
Sorry to but in to your thread, but are you in some sort of special trial or is this a service that Dr Dimitrakov's practice offers to anyone for a fee ?Glenn wrote:I am currently in contact with Dr Dimitrakov about sending my samples for analysis.Have any other readers done this and what was the outcome?
I would love to get a 'proper' opinion on my condition as the docs here in Scotland don't seem to have a clue and just want to pile on the antibiotics ! Do you live in the same country as the Dr or is it possible to send these samples to him ?
cheers
