I have noticed that very shortly after drinking a cup of coffee or tea my perineal pain/ache dissipates considerably and I just don't know the reason for this positive reaction. Perhaps the heat is somehow relaxing muscle spasms. However, the question is how does the heat get to the muscles in the perineal and prostate area so expeditiously after swallowing hot liquid?
I would appreciate any feedback.
Thanks.
Drinking hot beverages relieves my prostatic related pain

It's probably a purely neurological phenomenon in which ingestion of a hot substance refocusses the nervous system on the digestive tract and away from the pelvis.
Good News! The great ProstaQ is BACK at last! You must try it.

Thanks for the feedback.
I just spoke with a friend, a doctor of neuropsychology, and he indicated that the probable benefit is due to the hot fluid opening up the constricted vascular system surrounding the prostate gland. Unfortunately the relief is only temporary.
BTW guys, the results noted above are not intended to be a recommendation to other posters because I am not a doctor of medicine or in the medical profession and cannot diagnose or prescribe any treaments. The above is only my experiences and I am not intimating that they will apply to anyone else.

Could be. In addition as my friend noted in my previous post it is possible that heat expands our consticted vascular tissue that surrounds the prostate resulting in some relief.scotsman wrote:I agree as having shower does the same for me.webslave wrote:It's probably a purely neurological phenomenon in which ingestion of a hot substance refocusses the nervous system on the digestive tract and away from the pelvis.

Unlikely, since caffeine is a vasoconstrictor.Simon wrote:I just spoke with a friend, a doctor of neuropsychology, and he indicated that the probable benefit is due to the hot fluid opening up the constricted vascular system surrounding the prostate gland. However, what may be important here are the other CNS stimulating effects of caffeine.

I drink decaffeinated hot beverages so there is probably very little residual caffeine remaining. In fact the positive effect of drinking these beverages is so immediate that there is obviously some sort of neurological/vascular involvement of some sort which I plan to discuss with my Urologist.webslave wrote:Unlikely, since caffeine is a vasoconstrictor.Simon wrote:I just spoke with a friend, a doctor of neuropsychology, and he indicated that the probable benefit is due to the hot fluid opening up the constricted vascular system surrounding the prostate gland.
