my story - quercetin seems to help a lot
Firstly I hope all sufferers of this illness to find their cure as soon as possible.
I am 30 years old; I have been suffering from a very mild form of prostatitis since the age of 20 -- 21, which got very worse the last 6 months.
An important characteristic I have is that I am very sensitive to any changes/effects from external influences my body is coping, meaning any use of medicine/food/drinks/exercise etc..i can fill instantly/or pretty fast the effect they have..
I am fairly convinced now that my problems initially were caused from hormone imbalances and Stress - related to overmasturbation habits from a young age and that may be the case for the oversensitivity I developed at my prostate/nerves/muscles and in milder case my body in general.
Initially I could feel the "golf ball" felling in the prostate area/nerves/muscles/anus from time to time or a constant irritation, having acne occasionally very bad, got better with exercise, good food, less drinking (I am from a Mediterranean country were good ingredients/olive oil/tomatoes/onions are eaten from very young age) And as I mention that I started to eat tomatoes/onions/garlic as with these foods I felt a lot better every day. For 10 years the symptoms were temporary and mild and I could cope with them.
The last year I changed my environment, I went abroad at a southern country to work and during that year I had a lot of sex with different partners, I was under tremendous stress for my standards and I was hit very hard, my symptoms got even worse each time after having sex:
- Pain in perineum/prostate/anus/tailbone
- Redness every other day on penis tip
- Extreme fatigue -- could not even rise from my bed, I stopped working the last 4 months
- Over Stressed, could not sleep, insomniac
- Sweating terribly and feeling awful
- Burning during urination/pain/very frequent
- Low semen volume
I was stressed that I had a serious illness so I had all kinds of tests, from prostate checks -- STDs, thyroid etc, nothing came up. I refused to take any antibiotics(Cipro) because I felt this has to be dealt in a more natural way as I have been reading some.
Initially I tried some zinc, isoflavones (a doctor recommended that as well), saw palmetto, some ginseng to get some energy back, low dose for a month, situation got better but was hit again, I decided to return to my country -- my environment -- less stress -- and some time to recover, the last month I have been taking only H&B Quercetin and Vitamin C, initially, from day 1, I felt pain-discomfort in all my urinary-prostate area (due to my sensitivity), but fortunately this was a good pain -- it seems to be the effect of the anti-inflammatory Quercetin and the detoxifying-healing effect of both Vitamin C and Q. After a week most pain has gone -- now after a month I am sure that things are getting better and better every day!

Formula
This mirrors my success with:
Quercetin (Cysto protec)
Vit B Multi Vita min + B12
A daily anti histamine (Allerclear from Costco)
This formula seemed quite effective. I can tell within a day or two of deviating off the above.
I would imagine the environment change helped as well. I would suggest also some meditation tapes 10-20 mins per day if you can.

hello again,
i need some advice from you guys..
still testing myself with different treatments.
after taking 1 month quercetin with pretty good result, my dermatitis/eczema has turned very bad so I stopped taking it..
My urinary symproms have been better but not diminished - that is urinary frequency is better, strength of urinating is better(urinate further) but volume is limited per time and I feel if pushing harder flow stops in some cases does this happen to anyone ?
I tried saw palmetto but after taking one or 2 times I feel my prostate sore and painful.
Also I used to exercise hard and during exercise I can feel shooting pain in my testicles which last for a day/2 after that so I stopped
I tried some evening primrose oil and I can feel generally better with my Fatigue and myalgic pains and l-arginine wich improved my angina as well.
Any advice on similar symptoms - many thanks

I wouldn't stop taking quercetin. Simple as that! It may not even be the cause of your eczema.
Eczema - an allergy. Look into wheat intolerance / allergy.

Doesn't the fact that you've done extensive PT & you are avoiding wheat mean that although you may miss a few days of Prostaprotek your pain is minimal?
Thanks for reply to my private message last month re: your progress to date by the way

I take fish oil & valerian root (herbal) for muscle spasms. Not sure how much they help me but I continue to take them. I also take buffered vit c & calcium / magnesium combined.

Hello all,
for sometime now 1 month or so fish oil/primrose oil and l-arginine had good effect on minimizing pain/feeling better and healthier/even forget prostate existence.
unfortunately not curing the underlying cause once more the past weekend had an episode with pain mostly located in the testicles 70%/prostate 30%
went to a professor of urology recommended by a relative - had a scan and saw the prostate and bladder - doctor after massage as well said it was 2x times my normal size due to inflammation and congested by watery fluid - also that's why I was not allowed to pee normally because of pressure on my bladder - I felt pain during his massage on the prostate. Without any further tests for bacteria(me not happy about that) he was convinced that there was a bacteria infection sometime in the past which is trapped a long time/some replicated recently towards my testicles and checked my kidneys which were fine.
Prescribed ciproxin(Cipro) 500x2 30 days. Here we go I said. I feel of course after my reading on this forum that I had to try some sort of antibiotics sooner than later just to eliminate the possibility of bacteria and try to move on. But am still optimistic because of my prostate condition.
My question - Is there anyone with this infection completely cured by Cipro alone ? thank you

It seems that antibiotics can have an anti-inflammatory effect for reasons that I think are still poorly understood. That's why some people like my self can get "some" tempory relief from antibiotics. I would not bet on antibiotics curing your problem, unless you have been proven to have an infection in your prostate by having an EPS done and cultured for bacteria. 90 to 95% of all cases of CP/CPPS is non bacterial. We on this board don't support the use of antibiotics for reasons you will learn if you read many of the posts here. If your prostate is inflamed, it can be many reasons for that. Pelvic floor dysfunction can cause muscles to effect the organs in our pelvis and cause inflammation. I'm not a doctor... Regards, Carl...

I encourage anxiety prone UCPPS people to consider L-Theanine
Age, 44 onset age 37 Feb 2006 Freq. need to urinate. Sensation of having to urinate soon after going. Perineum discomfort/burning/tightness, pubic area discomfort @ times, poor urine stream, post urine dripping/spray. All symptoms have improved with my protocol. At the worst I give it a 1 to 2 on irritation and discomfort and frequency. Helps: Elavil 5mg for anxiety and mast cell protection, (will only take it as needed) self internal PT as needed, stretching, walking, stairmaster cardio workout and light weights, reducing stress, moment to moment relaxation, deep breathing relaxation and using a Theracane. Makes worse: sitting for long periods, stress, over focusing on it. Currently 95%-98% recovered. Stay positive, relaxed and control your anxiety.

Correction: nobody with Category IIIa or IIIb prostatitis has been cured by antibiotics.Sleeper Service wrote:Err... if you've not tried any antibiotics then you need to give them a go. It's possible you do have an infection. There have been plenty of people cured by antibiotics - Dr Shoskes himself is an example.

thanks people, after a lot of thinking on my symptoms, episodes and timing I have come to the idea that I may have both abacterial and bacterial with bacterial infection making things very worst the last year - flu like symptoms of episodes - extreme pain - always in bed for 4 days - I did not have this kind of symptoms the last 8 years and the last year I had several different sex partners - I am monitoring the use of Cipro every dose and will keep you posted - thks again

Go ahead and give antibiotics a try, if you have never used them before, but I'll be very surprised if they help you for more than a short period. The symptoms you list above are the same ones I had, and relate to the chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS) that a large percentage of chronic prostatitis / chronic pelvic pain syndrome sufferers have in addition to their CPPS. CFS is also related to chronic stress, just like CPPS.leon wrote:Extreme fatigue -- could not even rise from my bed, I stopped working the last 4 months

I Had multiple bacteria infections that boosted my stress level up and triggered latent trigger points that made my chronic prostatitis / chronic pelvic pain syndrome a full-time thing. So its not unreasonable to think that its possible an infection could be causing half or part of the pain but from my personal experience anything the antibiotic was doing after a couple of weeks was just making things worse
Age: 23 | Onset Age: 21Symptoms: Urinary problems, Sexual problems, Sitting problems. All very painful | Helped By: Hatha yoga, Trigger point therapy, Avoiding sex . Avoiding Sitting. Relaxation. | Worsened By: Sitting for long periods of time. Sex. Being tense.
