Anti-Inflammatory Drug - Mobicox (Meloxicam)

Post by SickofCP »

As mentioned in a prior post, I'm taking an anti-inflammatory drug called Mobicox (Meloxicam). My urologist prescribed it for 30 days, 1 per day.

I'm feeling much improved these days, and I really don't know if I have this drug to thank. I also started taking any accredited quercetin product in this time (I was taking a generic quercetin for about a month prior to starting Quercetin). And I've been on the a-blocker Xatral for about 2 months.

I have a week left of Mobicox and I'm kind of afraid that I'll flare up as soon as I stop taking it. I don't see my uro for another couple of months. I'm wondering whether I should call my uro to extend the prescription for another month say.

I've had no side effects from the drug, but I guess being on a strong anti-inflammatory for a prolonged period can't be good. Hence why he only prescribed it for 1 month.

Hopefully, it's really the any accredited quercetin product and Xatral that are working. I don't want to jinx anything, because I know things may change at any moment, but I'm at the point where my symptoms are still a nuisance and concern, but the pain & discomfort have almost gone away (~90% better?).

Just wanted to know if any of you have had experience taking a similar anti-inflammatory, and what happened when you stopped taking it.

Thanks in advance for any answers. I hope all of you are having a good day :-D

I just started taking Flomax last week. It might be working. I feel better but I'm not sure if I'm just having a few good days. Today is not so good but its not the worst.

I take motrin as an anti-inflammatory. doesn't seem to help though.

I took Naproxen for a month but it didn't help me. Perhaps it took off 10-20% of my symptoms. But I'm not really sure, it could have been a placebo effect.
NSAIDS can cause ulcers.

I have taken both Advil (iboprofen) and Vioxx (rofecoxib) and neither seemed to have a lasting beneficial effect. My symptoms waxed and waned as usual on both medications. Also, I have read that NSAIDs may augment degranulation of mast cells. My guess is that your're improvement is due to quercetin and the alpha-blocker and you'll be fine off the NSAID.
