Strange pain: does anyone share this experience?

Post by dillon »

I was diagnosed with non-bacterial prostatitis about 3 years ago. I have all the typical symptoms but I also have a moderate uncomfortable, poking, shooting pain on the left side of my chest and down my left arm. This Pain is always associated with a flair up. My doctor doesn't seem to think much of it. Anyone else share this type of pain?

Thanks!

The chest-arm pain sounds like angina, which could be a separate issue or could be associated with anxiety. It is not a typical symptom, although I remember that at my worst time I had chest pain and an ECG, probably from anxiety.
Good News! The great ProstaQ is BACK at last! You must try it.

Did you doctor tell you whether he thought it skeletal pain or not?

* Age:33 Onset: February 2004.
* 99.9% IMPROVEMENT in 2.5 Years with the first year being the really hard part
* Current Symptoms: Mild irritation of perineal muscles on occasion. Relieved for days at a time by a specific stretch (see below).
* Initial Symptoms: Terrible penile, urethral, rectal, and perineal burning/aching with addition afferent sensations.
* Current Treatments: Deep stretching of the legs and pelvis. Most effective: Deep psoas and levitar ani stretch using the first phase of the "pigeon pose" from Yoga. When a deep pulling is felt in the middle of the pelvis next to the upper rectum, symptoms are completely alleviated for several days.
* Past Treatments Hyperprotection of the perineum for 1.7 years, Walking, Rectal biofeedback, Stanford/Wise-Anderson Protocol, Conditioned deep relaxation practice, Men's Multi-Vitamin and an Extra B-complex pill, all seemed to help.

I have not related them before , but yes I had this pain - when a flair up occured as a matter of fact - or better when I was overstressed - sweating , no sleep,
but it was not an "oppressive, heavy, crushing pain or a constricting feeling" , but more an isolated shooting pain on the left chest side -
I stoped smoking, reduced stress, exercise more, pain has gone..

I've had a lot of chest pain at the same time as my CPPS. For me, I believe it was a convergence of chronic prostatitis / chronic pelvic pain syndrome troubles and severe anxiety. Anxiety can cause all manner of pain - and the chest pain is the most troublesome. I too have had EKG's in the ER due to chest pain, and it was only anxiety. The muscles in the chest wall can contract pretty tightly if you are stressed.

With that said, definitely get these things checked out. There may be other causes. Although a heart attack is probably unlikely, given that you are still here typing on these forums!

Went to my GP, Did an EKG and x ray. The heart is in perfect health.
My Doctor thinks that it is stress related and has no direct correlation with the prostatitis.
