Could a digestive enzymes cause a flare up?

My stomach had been bothering me for a while, and they had this lady at the health food store who did a Living Blood test. (she pricks your finger and you can see the shape of your blood cells) I seen that my red blood cells were linked together and she said they should be separated. (very common she said) we also saw parasites in the blood, also pretty common. Anyway my question is, she wanted me to start w/ acidophilus and a digestive enzyme. I did the enzymes for 4 days and that is the only change in my diet/ lifestyle. Does anyone know or think there could be a connection. I stopped 4 days ago and I am still in a flare up. And I am supposed to start a parasite cleanse but I want to get back to feeling better. I am not in anyway thinking that parasites are behind my chronic prostatitis / chronic pelvic pain syndrome but I was at least hoping to calm my stomach pain and extreme gas down. Any ideas?

Parasite in blood?

Sorry, but my BS meter just went off on that one. I know I shouldn't be pointing fingers since I'm currently on BT (Brocolli Treatment)... but I know no one die of brocolli overdose.

Unfortunately, HelpaDude is right. This health food store person is most likely a practitioner of "orthomolecular" medicine, which means that while she may have some good ideas, she almost certainly has a whole lot of bad ones. More info on such people

In fact, these procedures could end her up in court. From court papers:

Curran proceeded to perform his exam. As part of that exam, Curran pricked AD's finger tips, put blood samples on a glass slab, put that slab under the microscope and projected the "living blood cells" onto a monitor, enabling both AD and LD to view what he proceeded to diagnose.

Curran showed what he stated were "parasites" living in AD's blood cells. He said that her blood was infested with these parasites and that her immune system was so overworked trying to kill them on a daily basis that when other germs and bacteria entered her system, the immune system was too tired to fight. Curran also showed LD and AD "white formations" in the cells, which he said were "holes" in the blood. He also showed what the "healthy" color of blood cells should be and what you wouldn't want to see for coloration. Curran showed another view of AD'S cells and said they were tainted "green," which was an indication of early cancer. Curran advised that this was the "worst" blood work he had ever seen and advised LD that she had to picture AD standing on the edge of a cliff. Curran indicated that if AD were not treated immediately, with drastic measures, AD would "fall off the cliff' within one to two years. Curran also told AD that she had thyroid problems and a dysfunctional pituitary gland that were making her age three years to every one. LD advised investigators that she was "devastated" upon hearing the diagnosis. However, Curran told LD and AD that this diagnosis was reversible, informing that "drastic measures were required for drastic situations." Curran claimed that he could cure AD with a very intensive ten-days of therapy.

Thanks for the responses! I know it all sounds weird, but I actually saw 2 to 3 parasites in the blood. That story is definitely scary, but is there any danger in doing a parasite cleanse? And since a digestive enzyme would deal with a persons elimination, could that have affected my flare up?

Health orders chiropractor to halt live blood analysis tests

PROVIDENCE, R.I. A Rhode Island chiropractor has been ordered to stop performing live blood analysis tests.

The order came from the state Health Department yesterday. It says Joyce Martin was using the tests to diagnose problems that she says could be treated with nutritional supplements. Medical professionals say the tests have no clear value, and the public should be wary of anyone who offers them.

Martin has offices in Cranston, East Greenwich, East Providence and Providence. She says she was surprised by the department's action, had removed the lab equipment, and wouldn't do the test anymore.

Martin is allowed to continue her chiropractic practice.

Thanks for the responses Mark!! Luckily or should I say unfortunately I have dealt with a lot of scams dealing w/ chronic prostatitis / chronic pelvic pain syndrome over the past 10 years, so I didn't really buy anything. I was told the same things. The digestive enzymes were only $6.00 so I guess I'm out that plus the cost of the test. The one thing that I am still unsure of was the parasites I saw floating around, what could that be about? And let me just clarify that I know this couldnt possibly have anything to do w/ my chronic prostatitis / chronic pelvic pain syndrome or anyone elses!!! I am just ignorant to what parasites do and if all people have them?

They weren't parasites, just white blood cells or something similar. This is pure quackery.

Newbie here so forgive me for chiming in abruptly. I'm in a nurse-practitioner program and while I know very little about CPPS, I have some helpful knowledge about other health concerns. If you had parasites in your bloodstream, chronic prostatitis / chronic pelvic pain syndrome would be the least of your concerns. Good luck!!
