Hi all,
I'm now going on 7 months suffering from CPPS. My symptoms are mainly urinary: frequency, weak stream, and a general burning/tightness in the penis and perineum. I don't have rectal/buttocks/abdomen pain. All my symptoms are worsened dramatically after ejaculations.
I've recently started seeing a physical therapist for massage of the abdominal muscles and the pelvic wall muscles. It's been three visits now, and we seem to be making progress, at least in the sense that we have found tight bands of muscle that are extremely painful and start to pulsate violently under pressure. I feel like this therapy is a step in the right direction.
However, the pain I feel during the massage is only local to whatever spot is being massaged. I don't experience referred pain in the normally symptomatic regions. What I was hoping, really, going into the first massage, was to feel definite referred pain in my penis where I normally feel it. Instead, I end up with a general burning feeling all through the pelvis, like a fireball that constantly has to take a leak.
I am curious whether my lack of referred pain during the massage indicates that we need to look harder for trigger points, or whether this is something that some people who see benefits from internal massage just don't experience.
Thanks,
Chris

Hi Chris
I had a lot of triggerpoint treatment that didn't refer pain anywhere else apart from locally. However, I'd certainly recommend to keep looking for other triggerpoints as I did have internal work done that did refer pain elsewhere (such as shooting pains up my penis).
It's be said numerous times how hard triggerpoints are to find and what makes it worse is that with layers of muscles you may need to treat and relax one layer before you can get access to the triggerpoints in the layer beneath.
Richard.
