good news for London, UK.

Post by londoner »

After a rather frantic internet search a few months ago I found a London-based urologist whom I saw recently.

He was the first sympathetic, clear-thinking doctor I had seen. His hospital is doing research into 'prostate'/ pelvic pain and he put me in touch with a pain specialist who, in turn, sent me to a Physical Therapist in the W1 area.

Imagine how encouraged I was when I entered her room and saw the book "A Headache in the Pelvis" on her desk. She is experienced with these problems and getting more experienced all the time.

She does internal trigger-point work and, along with the pain specialist, recognises the state of non-treatment and misdiagnosis in the UK. They are discussing how to deal with that situation. I really take this as a step forward.

If you're interested, I'd recommend you see the urologist first for proper diagnosis but I am happy to give the PT's details so you can self-refer to her if you wish. Please respond privately.

It may be a good idea to post the names of these people openly on this forum. I'm sure they'll appreciate the business it brings.

The names should also be added to this list
viewtopic.php?t=1454

(I notice a few people have recommended therapists and uros over the last few months and we neglected to add them to that list. If any mods can help me on this, I'd be grateful.)
Good News! The great ProstaQ is BACK at last! You must try it.

I agree. I just need to check with them. The PT has already told me she's ok with me forwarding people to her but I didn't mention posting her name. I'll try and find out more about her experience but she's certainly connected with a respected pain specialist who is working in this field and is working from a good practice.

Yeah!

I concur that the dancing banana is most appropriate here.

This is not medical advice, and I am NOT a doctor of medicine or a related field.
* Age:33 Onset: February 2004.
* 99.9% IMPROVEMENT in 2.5 Years with the first year being the really hard part
* Current Symptoms: Mild irritation of perineal muscles on occasion. Relieved for days at a time by a specific stretch (see below).
* Initial Symptoms: Terrible penile, urethral, rectal, and perineal burning/aching with addition afferent sensations.
* Current Treatments: Deep stretching of the legs and pelvis. Most effective: Deep psoas and levitar ani stretch using the first phase of the "pigeon pose" from Yoga. When a deep pulling is felt in the middle of the pelvis next to the upper rectum, symptoms are completely alleviated for several days.
* Past Treatments Hyperprotection of the perineum for 1.7 years, Walking, Rectal biofeedback, Stanford/Wise-Anderson Protocol, Conditioned deep relaxation practice, Men's Multi-Vitamin and an Extra B-complex pill, all seemed to help.
