I know that many people describe painful abs and the feeling of bloated with this condition but how severe are peoples symptoms in this area. I feel that my abdominals could now be more painful than my perineal issues and I just wonder how common that it. I have pain if I press around my navel and above this towards the sternum is also tender. The flank areas on both sides also present pan when manipulated.
Has anyone had pains like this that have resolved with regular self applied massage of the area with or without a Theracane? When manipulated these areas elicit gastric type pain however I have no gastric or IBS type issues.
Thanks for any insight

Good question Chewy. I have the same problems but my pain varies depending on what I have been doing. I found that light exercise to strengthen core muscles seem to help immensley. Results are not immediate, you have to give 1-2 weeks. My PT/massage therapist keeps telling me that its important to excercise the core muscles if I am to loose the trigger points and not get them back.
Age 43: Onset June 2005, Initially: perineal pain, discomfort in penis, very sensitive, sometimes burning. Red around the urethra on penis. Increased urination during night, problems with stream, sometimes constant urge to urinate. Exercise and moving around and laying down helps. Sitting down and squatting makes it worse. Improved to about 85-95%. Symptoms usually mild pain near belly button and slight urge to urinate.

At my worst I had pain all around the abdomen, along the margins of the lower ribs and in the appendix area too. They even took my appendix out for no good reason. The pain in my abdomen was probably caused by inflamed lymph glands, my doctors finally decided. The glands under my arms were frequently tender too. My whole immune system was in revolt, part of the CFS-CPPS nightmare that assailed me in those years,

Thanks for both replies.
Webslave - What was the turning point for you? I'm aware that your issues are caused by allergies but how did you get to know what substances cause your symptons?
I notice in another post that there is perhaps some link between muscle tension and a development of sensivities?
thanks

The turning point was when I changed my lifestyle completely to a much less stressful one, then another improvement when I self-massaged internally, then another improvement when I used Quercetin, and a final lift to full health when I dropped gluten from my diet. YMMV.
