Severe pain the buttocks

Post by joehansen12 »

CPPS drove me back to my home country. The journey back was really painful. I had to sit through for very long durations and this brought a lot of buttock pain. Right now I can't sit for more than 15 minutes. Also I pass stools 3 to 5 times a day now (when compared to 2 times a day). Penile pain has almost disappaered though (Thank God!)! I just want to get rid of this buttock pain. Do you think its totally related to CPPS?

About a month back, I was very conscious with what I ate. At that time I felt that eating spicy food or acidic fruits etc would increase my symptoms. These days I can eat almost everything (Wow!).

I think chronic prostatitis / chronic pelvic pain syndrome starts with an infection. The initial use of anti-biotics kill the infection, but the symptoms persist as the infection has done its damage. Initially I felt that mind cannot be a part of this condition. But these days I feel that staying calm and relaxed helps.

Thanks for reading guys. Please let me know what I can do to get rid of this pain in my buttocks (which happens only when I sit down).

Thank you.
Joe

Could be sciatica. Is your pain anywhere in these bands?

The physical therapist I visited said it could be Ischial Burstitis. Sciatica is a possibility too. I wonder why my chronic prostatitis / chronic pelvic pain syndrome symptoms have subsided after this terrible pain in my buttocks started.

Thanks for the reply, webslave. Any possible treatments that you know of other than heat and stretching?

I feel I should consult a physician. Should I go to a neurologist or an orthopedic or someone else?

Regards,
Joe.

Ice packs to the lumbar spine worked wonders for me. Cold de-activates some pro-inflammatory cytokines.

Use a soft-gel ice pack or wrap a package of frozen peas in a clean towel and apply to the painful areas for 15 to 20 minutes at least four times a day.

Do not ice any area more than 20 minutes. Wait at least 1 hour in between each ice application.

Thanks for the replies, Webslave and Richie. I will try both the ice and the asanas.
