sitting pain..

Post by jerseyguy »

I am having severe pain while I sit. My job calls for sitting 9 hrs/day.
Primary symptoms
1. pelvic pain 5 min after urination - muscles not relaxing properly, pain eventually disappears
2. sitting pain on bottom, and through calves.
Have been able to bring down frequency a lot.
I tried few cushions, didn't work out. Should I buy a toilet seat?
Thanks

Symptoms- pain at tip and base of penis, urge to urinate (can hold off for hrs), dribbling at end of urination

If it's an office job, perhaps you can get a standing shelf in your cube or against a wall. This can be a very cheap way to help out. People with back problems do it. I've done it.

I didn't have much luck with any cushion. Some of them put more strain on your lower back. The "dougnut cushion" hurt my back the worst.

Is hard seat better than soft seat for pelvic area?
I can feel my pelvic muscles flutter during day time; no pain when I wake up in the morning.
Also, is there anything I should do in particular after act of urination, so as to help the muscles relax?
Thanks

The best thing is to get your employer to get you a stand up workstation. The one mine bought me was only about $150. They can run up to the thousands but those are not necessary. If you have a Dr's recommendation, they have to provide it per fed law.
Age: 45 Onset: 43. | Symptoms: Tightness, spasms, burning and pain in the perineum. Occassional mild pain after urination in the perineum. Helped by: Cardura, quitting caffiene, relaxation, fiber, stand up workstation and some PT a year ago. Makes Worse: ANXIETY, ULTRAM, going to work, sitting or squatting too long, constipation (big problems), stress, and sometimes unexplainable.
