It looks like in the not too distance future my gf will have to move away for job reasons, so I will be without any internal trigger point help for probably a couple of months before she found us a new dig. It looks like I finally have to do it myself.
Whether you use Theracane or the Wise-Anderson Theracane, I wonder what is the proper procedure? Dr. Wise told me to boil the cane in hot water. Also do you put a latex glove on the cane, or a condom? How did did you press?
Has anyone here do internal trigger point therapy on themselves without the aid of a tool (i.e.. digitally)? How do you start?

I stick to using my fingers. Using an object like a Theracane up the butt, doesn`t sound too pleasant. Using your fingers also allow you to feel the tissue and feel where the knotted up fibres are.
Age: 31 Previous symptoms: penile pain, pain in the rectum, occasional shooting pain in the perineum. Helped by: relaxing / meditation, internal massage, abdominal massage, stretching Makes worse: stress, being out of comfort zone. Current symptoms: Occasional mild soarness. www.kroniskprostatitt.com 95 % better

Did you wear a surgical glove, or without? How deep can you go using your fingers? Do you do it stand up, or has to lay in bed sideways to do it?Viking wrote:I stick to using my fingers. I do not look forward to it, but I think this will have to be done.

I've used my Theracane many times. I never use it "deep" in there. I mostly use it just on the inside to stretch the muscles around the anus. It works great for me. But it's not designed for such use, so therefore I cannot officially recommend it. Use at your own risk.

So you never use it to press on muscles like the levator ani and others?CppsDad wrote:I've used my Theracane many times. I never use it "deep" in there. Also do you put condom or latex glove on the Theracane before you proceed?

Yes, I use it on the levator ani almost exclusively. I lay on one side, put it in, then stretch "up". Then I rotate, and do it again for the other side. But I don't stick it straight in and go deep. Using this technique, I get a very good stretch of the levator ani, with very little effort. In most cases, I stretch it better than the PT did, as I can hold the Theracane for minutes at a time with no difficulty, and get a harder stretch than my PT.So you never use it to press on muscles like the levator ani and others? Also do you put condom or latex glove on the Theracane before you proceed?
The Theracane is good for stretching, but it isn't good for finding trigger points, since you can't really feel them. But still, it's the best tool I have when my wife can't help me out.
I don't do this. I wash it carefully before using it, and even use a disinfecting wipe. Then I apply KY-Jelly or something similar, and use it that way. Also do you put condom or latex glove on the Theracane before you proceed?
If you've had internal work done on you by your girlfriend, this will be no big deal. The Theracane knob is nothing bigger than what comes out. Just go slow, and it will be easy.
But once again, I have to issue my disclaimer. The Theracane is not officially sanctioned for internal use. Therefore, I cannot officially recommend this. If you use the Theracane internally, you do so at your own risk.
