My pain seems to be a/right-sided (I feel something throbbing and aching there when I wake in pain in the night) and b/ above the base of the penis on my front and around the sides (but not the perineum). Basically, it feels like the area where my pubic hair/bone is.
Can anyone please give me a clue as to what muscle might be involved here
Try to dig in the pelvic area where it hurts. Go deep. Try a Theracane if you don't have one. The sore spots are it!

I agree with Richie. The Theracane is the way to go there. It was essential for me. Also make sure to do groin stretches. Those stretches help when I have pain in the "crease" between my legs and the penis.
