Incidence of bacterial CP in gay men

Post by prostateman »

I am wondering if there is any research or other indications showing a higher incidence of bacterial CP in homosexual men and others that for some reason practice anal intercourse.
I would think that these groups of people would be much more exposed to possible pathogens like E. Coli and Enterococcus and thus might give an indication of their importance in CP/CPPS. :?:

Interesting question. I have a fellow pathologist who works in france and is writing a Ph.D. on the prostate in AIDS. In a recent series of 100 patients that we both reviewed (all of the patients were homosexual and had died of AIDS) 2 % had pathologic evidence of prostatitis (whichdoes not mean they had prostatitis clinically). Since the patients had been examined several times and followed or at least 5 years before they dies none of them had symptoms or signs of prostatitis.
