Sleep Apnea Poll

Post by LightningTree »

There is a method to my madness, I assure you.

This is not medical advice, and I am NOT a doctor of medicine or a related field.
* Age:33 Onset: February 2004.
* 99.9% IMPROVEMENT in 2.5 Years with the first year being the really hard part
* Current Symptoms: Mild irritation of perineal muscles on occasion. Relieved for days at a time by a specific stretch (see below).
* Initial Symptoms: Terrible penile, urethral, rectal, and perineal burning/aching with addition afferent sensations.
* Current Treatments: Deep stretching of the legs and pelvis. Most effective: Deep psoas and levitar ani stretch using the first phase of the "pigeon pose" from Yoga. When a deep pulling is felt in the middle of the pelvis next to the upper rectum, symptoms are completely alleviated for several days.
* Past Treatments Hyperprotection of the perineum for 1.7 years, Walking, Rectal biofeedback, Stanford/Wise-Anderson Protocol, Conditioned deep relaxation practice, Men's Multi-Vitamin and an Extra B-complex pill, all seemed to help.

I work midnight shifts, plus I do party on the weekends.....and have weird hours due to school. So my sleeping patterns are off a lot. I dont think I snore...but I do tend to wake up breathing heavy sometimes lately...and I don't slee for 10-12 hours anymore like I used to be able to, but that's probably because I'm getting older and it's harder to laze around in bed all the time even ifyou want to.

I voted no but I'm stillnot sure.
Age:23 | Onset Age:22 | Symptoms:Urinary hesitancy, moderate frequency, urgency and retention, slight perinneum, rectal and leg pain, frequent abdominal/bladder pain. Red/white spotty irritation on penis | Helped By:hot baths or showers, walking and moving around, pain medications | Worsened By: sitting for a long time, holding urine too long. I'd say I'm about 75% better naturally so far.

Signs of sleep apnea other than loud snoring include a constant sleepiness (lack of sleep), not breathing during sleep, among others..hte best way to figure it out is to do a sleep study.

well, I am tired a lot of the time (gets better as the day goes on) even when I get a solid sleep. But I've been like that for years and attribute it mostly to having an inconsistent sleeping schedule and not exercising nearly as much as I should. Those things, plus eating right, do wonders for how you feel every day in terms of alertness and energy. Sadly, like probably a lot of people here, I neglect them.

My dad has sleep apnea for sure but he doesn't seem to care much. I really don't think I snore but next time I sleep with a female friend, I'll have to ask. :-D

Lol! If you haven't noticed anything I would just say 'no' for now. Unless a girl mentions that you are choking or having trouble breathing in your sleep. :P

LightningTree, I'm very curious to see what you're getting at with this poll. I'm saying this because although I don't have snoring problems I find that sleep affects my chronic prostatitis / chronic pelvic pain syndrome significantly. If I sleep well, I fight it well, if I don't...
Age: 30 | Onset Age: 23 | Symptoms:pain in the perineum,pain after ejaculation,pain after decafecation ,in the begginig i had IBS | Helped By: Effexor,relaxation | Worsened By: anxiety,stress,ejaculation

I have problems with acid reflux so I sometimes wake up choking on the reflux, this happens more so when I take Elmiron before bed or when I eat food within 5 hours of bed, fatty foods like ice cream is the worst. The real scary part is I am not always waking up every time, mostly due to all of the drugs I take for pain reduction. After an bad episode it is 4 or 5 days before my lungs clear up so I am very tired and even have a fever some times. I guess my answer would be no, but it is a similar problem due to lack of air.
I HAVE NO MEDICAL TRAINING JUST CPPS

Age:48 | Onset Age: 39 | Symptoms:mod to extreme Pain in testicle (both), right epididymis, lower back lower right and centre abdomen. Urination frequency and urgence, decreased or no urine stream, ED, night time incontinence after riding in a vehicles or too much movement. | Helped By: eating ice frequency by Elavil, urine stream by Hytrin or Flomax. Pain control Methadone and Hydromorphone but more so by Triamcinolone epidurals. | Worsened By: Too much movement, SSRI's, Hot baths or showers. eating warm or too much food,DMSO treatments. Frequency by caffeine, stress or SSRI's.

hey kenn, I've had that a few times, too. It is pretty scary. I'm interested only in sleep apnea at this time, so you should click the no button.

Personally, I've found that taking my meds a bit earlier in the evening helps me avoid the acid reflux in the middle of the night.
