my experience

Post by CPSucks »

Unfortunately here I am sharing my experience with prostatitis, hoping that what I've been going through it might benefit others.

It all started 3 years ago, when me and my wife had to live apart, I was working in another country. Being alone I started masturbating and after a while the burning sensation, the pain in the perineum hit me. I was desperate, I didn't know what was going on. I was miserable for some time, I went to many doctors( the one from Rome too) which told me there was not much to do. First I realized that, for me, most of the symptoms I had were related to my ejaculation frequency. The more I ejaculated the more pain I had. Anything more then 2 ejaculations /sex session would make me feel miserable. And then I need a break of a couple of days.
Anyway here is the magic formula that works for me( I'm 90% pain free).

I try to have sex no sooner than every other third day, so I take 2 days break. And I take vitamins :

in the morning : Vitamin B complex, 1000mg Fish oil, 1000mg Borage oil, 500mg L-Arginine

in the afternoon : 1000mg Fish oil, 1000mg Borage oil, 500mg L-Arginine

in the evening : 1000mg Vitamin C, Selenium 100ug + Vitamin E 400 iu, Calcium, Magnesium and Vitamin D

it kinda sucks cause it limits your sex activity, but I'm almost pain free, which is such a relief. And yeah I drink water a lot , like min 1.5l/day, but I'm not sure if that helps so much.

I hope this helps.

S.

masturbation

Post by robertpagen »

seems many posters, including myself, have drawn a connection between compulsive masturbation and resulting pelvic pain and dysfunction.
This is interesting because when I was symptomatic, urologists would not acknowledge the connection between compulsive ejaculation and pelvic pain. In fact they would counsel me to ejaculate even more.

Be well,

Robert

Ejaculation is wierd for me. If I am in pain, it will almost completely remove it. If things are going good in the pain dept, it can bring on troubles a short time after. But I think possibly too much over the years can get this crap going. Now it is just figuring out exactly when it might help you and when to keep your hands out of your pants :-D
Age: 45 Onset: 43. | Symptoms: Tightness, spasms, burning and pain in the perineum. Occassional mild pain after urination in the perineum. Helped by: Cardura, quitting caffiene, relaxation, fiber, stand up workstation and some PT a year ago. Makes Worse: ANXIETY, ULTRAM, going to work, sitting or squatting too long, constipation (big problems), stress, and sometimes unexplainable.

Compulsive masturbation definitely makes symptoms flare up ( I have noticed this from personal experience), and may even have some link to causing the initial flare-up in many people. Perhaps because of the lack of blood flow, and prolonged engorgement of tissues in the genitals that go all the way into the pelvic floor, there is a severe irritation.

Glad you are feeling better, S., and thanks for pointing out the connection, Robert.

This is not medical advice, and I am NOT a doctor of medicine or a related field.
* Age:33 Onset: February 2004.
* 99.9% IMPROVEMENT in 2.5 Years with the first year being the really hard part
* Current Symptoms: Mild irritation of perineal muscles on occasion. Relieved for days at a time by a specific stretch (see below).
* Initial Symptoms: Terrible penile, urethral, rectal, and perineal burning/aching with addition afferent sensations.
* Current Treatments: Deep stretching of the legs and pelvis. Most effective: Deep psoas and levitar ani stretch using the first phase of the "pigeon pose" from Yoga. When a deep pulling is felt in the middle of the pelvis next to the upper rectum, symptoms are completely alleviated for several days.
* Past Treatments Hyperprotection of the perineum for 1.7 years, Walking, Rectal biofeedback, Stanford/Wise-Anderson Protocol, Conditioned deep relaxation practice, Men's Multi-Vitamin and an Extra B-complex pill, all seemed to help.

I had an unusually high sex drive just before chronic prostatitis / chronic pelvic pain syndrome got me.

mine's been sky high since I was a kid. :o I've always masturbated frequently, even while I was in a fair bit of pelvic discomfort. Not so much anymore, but I'm pretty sure the 5-6 times a day times are long gone. I try not to exceed twice a day but if I have sex, I tend to push it a bit more. I'm still not sure if ejaculating too much makes the pain (which isn't very significant for me anymore really, but is still there) worse. I do know that too many ejaculations in a short time with msyelf or sex makes me testicles and penis sore and over sensitive and sometimes I get red patches, which my buddies have often joked is "cock rot".

But yeah....I've definitely learned to at least limit myself. It's hard sometimes, but too much of anything is always bad.
Age:23 | Onset Age:22 | Symptoms:Urinary hesitancy, moderate frequency, urgency and retention, slight perinneum, rectal and leg pain, frequent abdominal/bladder pain. Red/white spotty irritation on penis | Helped By:hot baths or showers, walking and moving around, pain medications | Worsened By: sitting for a long time, holding urine too long. I'd say I'm about 75% better naturally so far.

5 to 6 times a day was just about the amount I used to be on...discounting the actual sex with SO. I used to hope that my sex drive would go down, for it reached a point of destructive. It took chronic prostatitis / chronic pelvic pain syndrome and Elavil to totally kill my sex drive. Now I feel asexual 99% of the time.

moderation is a big factor then. I used to be proud of how often I could perform and my ability to have an orgasm and within 30 seconds, perform again satisfied more than a few of my partners. I can still do that but it kinda hurts the next day or two. It's like anything.....overuse of muscles is probably abuse! :-D You can't always lift weights every day...so it's probably not good to have sex or masturbate multiple times every day.

But like some others in here, my urologist said that relieving sexual tension is usually positive.

Amen to that.
