nipping feeling

Post by inflamed »

Hi

I have been getting a new syptom over the last couple of days which I am worried about. I have been getting what feels like a nipping feeling on the urethra almost a bit like a muscle spasm with a nip, it can be quite sore. I 'm wondering whether this is just another syptom of my chronic prostatitis / chronic pelvic pain syndrome or something else entirely as it seems quite strange.

Sounds like the bladder neck is spasming, and that is what you are feeling.
Age:40 | Onset Age: 30 | Symptoms: Occasional Penis Pain, urge to urinate, thigh pain, lower back pain, occasional golf ball feeling, muscle spasms. | Helped By: Relaxation, Deep Meditation, Soft Cushions, Quercetin, Saw Palmetto, exercise. | Worsened By: Increased sexual activity, stress, allergic response.

Thanks for the response, have you had a similar syptom blacklaw?

Was wondering what my urologist would do, am I right in saying alphablockers are used to treat the bladder neck? Will probably avoid the urologist thou. Tells you what I think of them. Currently if I went to a urologist I would sit and talk for at the most 5 minutes he would probably ramble a bit about antibiotics. I would then send a cheque to his house, pathetic. I have been to see I think 4 urogolists, 3 in the states and one here I can safely say none of them have helped

I have been having that "muscle spasm" feeling for the past few weeks. When I get a flareup, that is normally how I get it, along with other various pains. Alpha blockers should treat it. Mostly, I let it go away on its own. I have been using any accredited quercetin product again and it seems to help a bit. I also find I have flareups right after PT for a few days. It is just par for the course. I have given up on my urologist. I feel that I know more than he does these days. I have been going to my primary care doctor if things get bad. But with the flareups, I know it is part chronic prostatitis / chronic pelvic pain syndrome so I go on with my PT, relaxation, and my cushions to sit on, and it passes. Good luck.

Hmm....i'm not sure if I get the same thing. Here is what often happens to me after urination.

I pee well these days....getting most of the urine out, then I wait a minute or two and squirt the remaining ounce out. Then about 5-20 minutes later I have a "fullness" sense where my prostate would be which goes all the way through my urethra...if I press on a certain spot, it feels as if I have to urinate a small amount again. I've had this before but now it's commonplace and I've taugh myself to ignore it as much as I can. It goes away most of the time until I have to pee again, which is usually 2-5 hours.

It's more of an annoyance I'd say.....and my doctor cannot explain it.
Age:23 | Onset Age:22 | Symptoms:Urinary hesitancy, moderate frequency, urgency and retention, slight perinneum, rectal and leg pain, frequent abdominal/bladder pain. Red/white spotty irritation on penis | Helped By:hot baths or showers, walking and moving around, pain medications | Worsened By: sitting for a long time, holding urine too long. I'd say I'm about 75% better naturally so far.

I have had that also. In fact I just went through it for the past few weeks. I was told it was an issue with the bladder neck. Again, I am relying on my doctor on this one. He is a big proponent of using saw palmetto instead of meds. I am also trying that. The mechanics come from the swelling of the prostate, etc.

This problem "could" definitely be helped with an alpha blocker if you are not currently taking one. I've tried about all of them, and switched back and forth numerous times due to insurance issues etc. Cardura has helped me the most. However it has to be tirated up and also the first few months there are more side effects than Uroxatral. I'd try Uroxatral first. And if you don't get any relief from it, go ahead and start the tiration of Cardura or Hytrin.
Age: 45 Onset: 43. | Symptoms: Tightness, spasms, burning and pain in the perineum. Occassional mild pain after urination in the perineum. Helped by: Cardura, quitting caffiene, relaxation, fiber, stand up workstation and some PT a year ago. Makes Worse: ANXIETY, ULTRAM, going to work, sitting or squatting too long, constipation (big problems), stress, and sometimes unexplainable.

interesting....my doctor has also suggested saw palmetto but for a 30 day supply here, it's 35 dollars! That's ridiculously expensive and I hate to use excuses, but I'm kind of a poor university student. As I said though, it's becoming just a minor nuisance as my doctor said he hoped it would be. I see my urologist in a month or two and I'd like to hear his take on it...it seems as if even when my voiding is strong, it's that remaining 5 or 10% of urine that just doesn't get out yet my bladder still wants it to get out.

I'm pretty sure Flomax would help this but I don't want to be on medications like that unless I really have and I'm doing really well naturally so far. Whatever is going on down there in my pelvic area is either in silent remission or slowly getting better.

Personally I would say avoid saw palmeto as to me it is not going to help with your muscles, I tried it for a couple of months and didn't notice any difference from being on it or not in my syptoms, but I guess some people may be different, I think it helps more with BPH

I've never considered my bladder neck to have a problem but I guess so now that I think about it. My frequency syptoms have improved with time and Stanford/Wise-Anderson Protocol but I still have dribbling problems and most of the time when I finish urinating I have a wee bit left and need to start urinating again, I put this down to my pelvic floor but I guess it could be my bladder neck causing the problem

if you drink a good amount, 4 or 5 glasses of water, a coffe or tea, a pop and a glass of juice or milk per day (that's what my doctor said is enough and well balanced/average)....how many times do you pee a day? I'm anywhere from 4 to 7 I've noticed in the last two months, which is of course....very normal. When I was having a lot of problems in the summer, I thought I was urinating too much but then it struck me that when I was perfectly healthy, I never kept track of how often I went pee. My doctor said anything less than 4 times a day is actually unhealthy and means you're dehydrated.

But I have those same symptoms...even when I pee out a good 12 or 14 ounces and it's powerful, once I'm done, there's still a bit left to squirt out which takes sometimes a minute or two. If I don't do that, I will sometimes have a strong urge to urinate again and then only pass a small amount. So I might take 5 minutes to pee in total, but I know I'm getting it all out. :)
