Elmiron Study Results and Occupational Therapy

Post by brianinthenorthwoods »

I recently completed a medical study for Elmiron and I did have some success with reducing my symptoms (ED, Urethral Pain, Pelvic Pain and Loss of Sexual Sensitivity.) I was originally diagnosed with Chronic Non-Bacterial Prostatitis from one physician and Interestitial Cystitis from a second doctor. I have some of these symptoms returning now. I am seeing an Occupational Therapist who is working with me on Biofeedback to help me to relax the muscles of my pelvic floor using a sensor that is inserted in the rectum. By squeezing and relaxing the anal sphincter muslces while seeing feedback in a software program the idea is that you can learn to relax the muscles with a greater degree of control. I havent really seen a profound difference thus far and I am wondering if others have had any experience with Biofeedback relative to CPPS. I do appreciate any feedback that you may be able to give me regarding the effectiveness of this type of treatment. I still want to see a PT that will do internal trigger-point work and this is my next step after Occupational Therapy.
