I have found the following natural supplements to be worthwhile in reducing stress and muscle tension, which as result greatly improved symptoms.
Calm Thoughts by Source Naturals - take about 3 tablets an hour before bedtime and sleep will be better and the next day I noticed anxiety was hardly there anymore, muscles feel more relaxed. Product contains GABA among other things. This can be taken during the day but I found it made me drowsy so I stuck to taking it at night.
L-Theanine - This is an amino acid that has been clinically shown to reduce anxiety and stress, and I can attest it works quite well. The beauty of this supplement is that it can be taken during the day with no drowsy feeling.
Herbs such as Valerian, Passionflower, hops, Chamomile - these are good in the evening mostly before bed. They do act to reduce tension and help sleep.
Melatonin - for deep sleep this one may be the best.
St john's wort - to improve mood and mental focus
DLPA - This is another amino acid and apparently has been used for pain reduction quite successfully. I have never used this but I do know that some of these amino acids have drug like effects but generally without any side effects. I think this needs to be taken for at least 2 weeks before any pain reduction is noted. This one might have great application for pelvic pain.
Arginine Alpha Ketoglutarate - Okay this is purely speculative on my part but this product increases blood flow to the muscles. I talked to my physical therapist about this one and she agrees that this may in fact be good for pelvic pain since increased blood flow to the muscles is what will help promote healing, etc..
I found these supplements to work just as well as 5mg of valium without the side effects or fear of addiction.

I found melatonin to be the worst thing I've ever taken for sleep. In fact it was more intense that any drug I've ever taken, and being a bad sleeper I've tried a lot. Made the whole night nothing but one big nightmare and no sleep at all. And of course the next day absolutely horrible.
From what I understand, the correct dosage is in huge question amongst the experts. I tried it about 3 times in high and low doses with the same results. So if you take it and it helps great for you, but for those of you that haven't, be careful with thsi one and also watch the dosage.
