Veteran needing help/ reassurance.

Post by GARYS »

I have suffered for a little over ten years (I will be 31 this month). I have tried everything I have been able to. I just started my Quercetin and recieved my Theracane, and even got my HITP 3rd edition back out. My problem that still gets me is the burning I get in my urethra after using the bathroom. After I urinate the urethra starts burning really bad and I feel like heat radiates through my whole body (maybe neves), and I'm slammed with the urge to keep on urinating which only makes it worse. I try to keep those muscles so relaxed after I urinate that sometimes I zip back up and some more urine comes out ( I could stop it , but I am trying to keep those muscles relaxed. I was managing OK for a little while and my wife was trying to treat my stomach muscles and I have been stretching. But in the last 2 weeks there was a death in her family, so I had to miss a couple of days of work where I have been very stressed out, I come home after about 12+ hrs of work, start writting up bids, kids are screaming and my wife complaining she never sees me. On top of that I started a concrete tear out thursday (w/ a lot of heavy lifting) and BOOM the burning is killing me again, I feel like its starting all over again. So can I get a pep talk or some advise.
Thank You.

First off, I think recognizing what is happening to your body is a start. I'm guessing prior to learning about the Stanford/Wise-Anderson Protocol, the burning would scare you worse than it does now. Just understanding the cause of it, and the triggers, will probably help you keep it from getting to the point it was at it's worst. Also, if you have been doing the trigger point work, and doing your stretches, you can be confident that your muscles will not revert back to their most hurtful state overnight. Sure, they can tense significantly and reproduce your great pain, but they will not stay in that position IF you do the work necessary to relax them and get them back where they belong. In the past, these muscles would probably be stuck in that tense position for days, filled with trigger points, unable to relax. They aren't in as bad a situation now, however.

I get down a lot when I have flare ups too. After 8 months of treatment, my good days are now counted in weeks. So when I get a flare up, even a minor one, I get pretty upset about it. But the truth is, the flare ups today aren't even close to what they were a year ago. But my tolerance level has slowly slipped as I have gotten used to low-pain days.

And at least now you have the knowledge that you CAN get better. This is something you probably didn't have a year ago too. I know I didn't. That alone (the actual first hand experience), is enough to help me keep my spirits up.

And if that doesn't work, just hang in there. Post your progress daily, or twice a day, and hopefully someone here can give you a pick-me-up.

Mike

Thanks a lot Mike!! What you say really makes sence (and helps). I live in constant fear of my symptoms returning to what they used to be. Its still tough to believe that things won't come back full blown like the begining. I pray constantly it will never get that bad again. It does come close. I'm still in a flare up right now. I guess theres nothing else to do but push through. I keep telling myself to make my life less stessfull but it hasnt happened yet. I just have to make it happen. Thanks again

No problem Gary. I'm currently in a flare-up too. It's no fun. But I know that in due time, I will have pain free days again. Of course, if you are baked in stress, you have to fight extra hard to keep your tension level low.
