Well this is really kind of obvious but I just wonder if anyone has any experince regarding this question. Ok, chronic prostatitis / chronic pelvic pain syndrome often develops from anxiety, chronic prostatitis / chronic pelvic pain syndrome then builds up even more anxiety and you get depressed. Anti-dep medicines should in my opinion relieve much of the anxiety and thus relaxing the muscles. So this is maybe a helpful tool combined with relaxation and stretching.
I dont know, its just a little thought I had.

My first real clue that my problem was more of psycological nature, was when I started therapy with Effexor and zyprexa. It worked very well for about 4 months (80% reduction of symptoms). But it stopped doing the trick in my opinion because I didn't adress the emotional cause that really put me in asituation that I always contract my pelvis muscles. In other words I found a way to feel better and instend of using this help to fight off the real problems I stuck on it as if this was the real answer. But it was not.
So, as I have said in earlier posts medication can only help you to the point that you let them to.They are not the solution, but a helping walking stick to start walk again and finally to make it on your own!

Muscle relaxants have been discussed on this board many times. They have helped many of us get over the hump with our anxiety and tension. Prozac is not really a muscle relaxant per se, but if it helps with depression and tension, it can be a benefit. But I agree, no drug is worth taking without a plan to get yourself off it at some point!
