Prostatitis and alcohol
Is there any general consensus as to whether or not alcohol aggravates prostatitis symptoms? I admit, I enjoyed drinking before this whole episode began, but since then, on the advice of my family doctor, I have stopped drinking. I'm wondering if anyone here on the forum had any experiences with alcohol adversely affecting them. I'd like to one day drink again. If it doesn't aggravate symptoms, I might as well. At least it will help me forget I have this condition for a few hours.

When my prostate inflamation was quite bad I went out and drank 4 pints of lager - It caused a massive flare up. Recently I have worked my way back up to 4 pints without any ill effects. I still try to minimise my alcohol intake however.

I remember alcohol as a factor of causing pain. So I did not drink wine or Bier for long time. Since my symptoms reliefed, I drink Bier sometimes.
it now doesnot cause prostatic pain but intestinal injury sometimes. Wine is always worse than Bier and we have good wines from France, Italy and Spain (the german wines are not that good but acceptable). And I dring a dark Weizenbier.
(With Bier I mean the german Bier, not the liquid manure called beer, you sometimes drink outside there!)

Many doctors conclude that alcohol makes the symptoms of prostatitis worse. I used to drink pretty heavily before I came down with this disorder. Not binge drinking, but simply regular intake. I no longer drink at all, and I have been symptom free for over a month.
I wouldn't recommend drinking. It isn't worth it.

You know, it's interesting...when I look back it now, I had a few strange urinary symptoms over the summer, but they only occured two or three times and never caused me any problem. Then, the day after I had drunk quite a lot of beer (I am in a fraternity, I probably drank way more than I should have), my CP kicked into full-gear. Perhaps, maybe, it was that infusion of alcohol that kind of "kick-started" my CP? I still wonder...

I just got off a three week vacation from school in which I was drinking almost every night. It was the best three weeks I've had since I've got this disease. It used to induce more pain in the beginning where as now if I drink I have a reduction of all sympoms. I also think that this can be attributed to the fact that I was getting a lot more rest during my vacation.

I think alcohol is what jumpstarted my prostatitis too...I went out drinking for my birthday this summer, and I got ridiculously drunk, and the next day, I had pain in my side, but I didn't think nothing of it. I figured I had just slept on it wrong. I drank again that night, and the next morning, my pains were on both sides. Ever since that point, it was just a downhill onset of symptoms.

As a computer science major I was under a lot of stress taking 4 engineering courses. I would drink an enormous amount of coffee to stay awake and would spend extended periods of time sitting at a computer. After drinking during halloween one night, I had to piss more than usual that after I had sex with my girlfriend. The next day, I still had the frequent urination and that continued for a few days and into full blown CP. That was the begining of the worst i've ever felt in my life. I think drinking alcohol contribued to it, but drinking at the same time allows me to get away for the pain at the same time.. In fact, the best i've felt in the 2 months now was when I had some alcholol in me. I realize now how much I was messing my body up, but its hard not to drink when you live in a fraternity and thats what your friends do every weekend. I've stopped drinking coffee completely. I hate coffee now. I think its a big part of my CP. I noticed that I always had to urinate more when I drank coffee, I wonder if theres any connection there? I think drinking a little is way better than having one sip of coffee.
