From my own experience and from what I have read in this forum,
i can tell that antiaxiety and antidepressant medication work effectivly and with lasting results,ONLY if you help them to do sow.
This means that if you take for ex.Efexor and it works taking off most
of the symptoms but you continue to live the kind of life that caused
CPPS then it is certain for me that in time the symptoms will return,
simply because your body will get used to the drug but the real cause
will remain!
For me all that kind of medication should be the HELP that you need
to CONFRONT your life problems, that caused this problem (CPPS)
and not to use them as a permanent solution!

I believe you are definitely right. I just came from my PT and she said that after 4 months of PT, physically there isn't much more she can do for me until I deal with the anxiety issue. So now I am going to see a Pain Managment Psychologist for a while before I go back to see her.

It has taken me a year now of antibiotics, supplements, meds and god knows what else I have tried, but it finally did come down to the Anxiety issue that has been there for years.
Age: 45 Onset: 43. | Symptoms: Tightness, spasms, burning and pain in the perineum. Occassional mild pain after urination in the perineum. Helped by: Cardura, quitting caffiene, relaxation, fiber, stand up workstation and some PT a year ago. Makes Worse: ANXIETY, ULTRAM, going to work, sitting or squatting too long, constipation (big problems), stress, and sometimes unexplainable.

I agree with gil_galad 100%. If you rely on drugs (any kind of drugs) to get you by, the underlying causes of your chronic prostatitis / chronic pelvic pain syndrome pain may get worse, and you won't even know it until it is too late; then you are far worse off than you were in the beginning. Once the drugs stop working, or once the pain is bad enough, very little will help you except good, old-fashioned therapy and good habits.
