Hi, I was curious what the specific area or part of the chronic prostatitis / chronic pelvic pain syndrome condition causes dribbling after urinating. I had that sympton for 3 years and then it actually went away for 2 years until I gave myself a prostate massage 8 months ago and then the sympton returned. I'm hoping it's something that can heal twice!
But does anyone know specifically what area or valve causes it to behave that way, is it just the prostate overall being weak? Or a valve in the prostate or just a weak muscle in that area? I've read and realize Kegel excercises are bad for men, but perhaps there's something like that could help.
Overall I haven't been in a lot of physical pain, altougth the last 2 weeks have been stressful and I've noticed the dribbling has become a bit worse - so that's why I'm posting. I'm also going to Stanford in May, so there will obviously be some smart people there to answer my question, but there's lots of smart people here too so thought I'd throw the question out.
Specific cause of dribbling urine?

Re: Specific cause of dribbling urine?
Very interesting how the dribbling just went away for 2 years after having that symptom for 3 years. Sounds like your prostate has been inflamed, and jabbing it made it swell up again. I bet the nerves and muscles in your pelvis play a major role in your case though, so trying the Stanford/Wise-Anderson Protocol might be a good idea.grover wrote:Hi, I was curious what the specific area or part of the chronic prostatitis / chronic pelvic pain syndrome condition causes dribbling after urinating. Dribbling seems to be indicative of an oncoming flareup for me. It seems to happen before anything else does.
Age: 44 | Symptoms: Pain in pelvis, Post urination drip. Helped by: Squat stretching, PT, Prelief before banned foods, Vit B, Cystoprotec AFTER foods, singulair after foods, Exercise. Makes worse: Stress, Alcohol (1-2 days after), coffee, Artificial sweeteners, chocolate, tonic Wheat/gluten. Drink a lot of water!!! 95% better to date!

Yeah, same thing here.Richie wrote:Dribbling seems to be indicative of an oncoming flareup for me. It seems to happen before anything else does.
This is not medical advice, and I am NOT a doctor of medicine or a related field.
* Age:33 Onset: February 2004.
* 99.9% IMPROVEMENT in 2.5 Years with the first year being the really hard part
* Current Symptoms: Mild irritation of perineal muscles on occasion. Relieved for days at a time by a specific stretch (see below).
* Initial Symptoms: Terrible penile, urethral, rectal, and perineal burning/aching with addition afferent sensations.
* Current Treatments: Deep stretching of the legs and pelvis. Most effective: Deep psoas and levitar ani stretch using the first phase of the "pigeon pose" from Yoga. When a deep pulling is felt in the middle of the pelvis next to the upper rectum, symptoms are completely alleviated for several days.
* Past Treatments Hyperprotection of the perineum for 1.7 years, Walking, Rectal biofeedback, Stanford/Wise-Anderson Protocol, Conditioned deep relaxation practice, Men's Multi-Vitamin and an Extra B-complex pill, all seemed to help.

Dribbling is a symptom of mine along with split stream urine and testicle pain. Dribbling is caused by a spasm or inability of the sphincter muscle to relax because of pressure in that area from inflammation or spazzed out muscles. I think.

thanks
Thanks for the feedback and thoughts. I guess that makes sense, I've been more tense lately so I've had more dribbling. I'm hoping the opposite will be true too though, if I learn to relax properly than it can slowly improve again.
The other odd thing that makes less sense to me is this, after a hot shower my dribbling is noticably worse, usually the worst it ever gets for me is right after a shower. And if I've ejactulated while sleeping I find that in the morning the first time I go to the washroom, the dribbling is at its least (or best). This is the opposite of what I would of thought in both cases.

I have the exact same dribbling problem. It seems to ease up after high volume ejaculation and flare up after hot shower. anyway this past week has been one of the best in months..... I guess since I am becoming more aware of the muscle tension and learnig to relax more. I also believe the physical therapy is begining to heal my sore pelvic floor.
