severe bladder discomfort

Post by joseph 33 »

Hi to everyone. there is a particular set of symptoms that happen to be very intriguing in my case: this include a severe sensation of incomplete bladder emptying and urinary frequency after a shower or defecation. Is anyone experiencing this? or any info on its cause will be appreciated.

For many people on this board, defecation is accompanied by tension in the pelvic muscles (pushing and straining). This can exacerbate their chronic prostatitis / chronic pelvic pain syndrome symptoms, and causes pain during or after urination as well. I can't say why showering would cause urinary pain, but there are a LOT of members who have pain before, during, and after defecation. Do a search for defecate or defecation and you'll come up with a lot of results. If you have chronic prostatitis / chronic pelvic pain syndrome (chronic muscle tension accompanied by shortened pelvic muscles and trigger points), then defecation could exacerbate your symptoms.

Pain with defecation can often be eased by squatting:

One thing I have found to be helpful with the pain I get in the rectum after a bowel movement is laying on a tennis ball (for some reason). I find a spot right about waist level and just lay on it. I have to move it around a little bit until I find a spot that takes the pain away. I also try to use a tennis ball to treat other parts of my back and legs ( when I have time).
Age:33 | Onset Age: 20 | Symptoms: burning urethra after urinating, followed by rush to urinate again, rectal pain after a bowel movement sometimes, frequency. | Helped By: Pyridium and Ativan | Worsened By: stress, sitting and unknown reasons.

I have the same problems and more frequency issues, they labeled me with interstitial cystitis but elmiron and a DMSO treatments have not helped. I found diet modifications helps somewhat, cabonated beverages and tomatoes sauces and pastes seem to effect me the most. Hopefully  you find something that works.

Sorry to be off-topic but, while the above is quite valid, it seems to me to be a very narrow definition of a much broader set of symptoms.

Yes yes. True. True. It's not the best wording I've used. chronic prostatitis / chronic pelvic pain syndrome is much broader than my brief description. You caught me.

Even though this may sound a bit odd, it's proper to mention that I have tried almost every treatment but physical therapy, and so far there are only two things which pretty much give me a complete remission of pain and urinary symptoms(at least for 2 hours). one is high volume ejaculation, and the other is drinking whisky. Every other alchololic beverage is a nightmare.
