intercourse - way too long

Post by lukesky »

I have mentioned on this site previously about ED issues and painful spasms. I am a true believer that this chronic prostatitis / chronic pelvic pain syndrome is related to muscle spasms. I recently posted a comment that I have had my colon and rectum removed due to severe ulcerative colitis about 20 years ago. Ever since then I have had "phantom pains" in my rectum area when I attempt to go to the restroom. I recently started taken Baclofen - 2 days ago and can already tell that my rectum area is relaxing. With that being said it is important to discuss the following: Due to my chronic prostatitis / chronic pelvic pain syndrome I now take Cialis which is a wonderful drug. I can perform like a stallion with this drug. However, the other night my wife and I were having sex and I lasted about 1 hour before climaxing. I also take Zoloft which has a nice side effect of delayed orgasm. While really wearing my wife out it literally wore my pelvic floor out and I hurt for about a week. In my mind if there were any type of infection in the prostate an hour of sex wouldn't hurt. Prior to getting chronic prostatitis / chronic pelvic pain syndrome I could last up to 2 to 3 hours during intercourse and not have any pain afterwards. What I am wondering, other than not cumming for an hour, is there anyway to relax the pelvic muscles during sex without ruining the mood, etc. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

My opinion about this, although it's not supported by any science, is that this sort of marathon sexual performance is best left to healthier (and often younger) men. Our disturbed pelvic musculature and nerves do not take kindly to such epic undertakings.
Good News! The great ProstaQ is BACK at last! You must try it.

I can agree that marathon sexual sessions are a "no-no". However, without the Zoloft and the Cialis I cum within about 30 seconds. From the research that I have done supposedly with chronic prostatitis / chronic pelvic pain syndrome and the restricted blood flow the prostate goes into a "spasm" in an attempt to achieve an erection. That's exactly what happens to me. Without the Cialis my erections are weak and in an attempt to get an erection my pelvic muscles go into spasms which causes the prostate to release and then I cum. So, with the Cialis and the Zoloft I get a great 1-2 punch. During sex I want to cum within a reasonable amount of time but still want to "last" and please my wife.

I'm sure you haven't got an infection but I don't undertand what you mean by the above statement. Could you explain please.

lukesky, may I ask how old are you ( 30's, 40's ? ) and for how long you had this chronic prostatitis / chronic pelvic pain syndrome thing, and how long this ED ?
Sorry for the curiosity but I am 25 and had ED from I guess the CPPS.
however I am from the unlucky guys that CIALIS and VIAGRA don t hel me much.
Actually Cialis and Viagra help me sustain an erection longer, but my erection with these is different. I don treach the full erection and my glans remain un-erect and very small. for some reason. I also cannot wear a condom even if I was on cialis or V.

When you take cialis you feel you reach your good old erection ?

Thanks

You also said you take Zoloft, which if I am not mistaken is a SSRI. SSRI's are often used to treat premature ejaculation. Though I am by no means an expert on the physiology of the prostate and pelvic floor, IMO I would think your PE is mitigated by the Zoloft and not Cialis.

Intercourse - way too long

From the research that I have done and from all of the tests that have been done on me I do not have any type of infection to the prostate. When you think about it rarely do men get chronic prostatitis / chronic pelvic pain syndrome under the age of 18. After the age of 18 many of us take on adult responsibilities and have stress which can lead to muscle tension. Many of us with chronic prostatitis / chronic pelvic pain syndrome have "certain personalities" which lead to tension - anxiety, panic attacks, etc. You will notice that the majority of us who suffer are age 25-60. These are the years when we all carry tremendous loads of responsibilities, sexual frequency and stress in our lives. Thus, many of us are prone to develop chronic prostatitis / chronic pelvic pain syndrome due to our reaction to the daily pressures in our lives. One academic urologist claims that 90% of prostatitis is from "tension". So, many times chronic prostatitis / chronic pelvic pain syndrome is misdiagnosed at some form of "infection". That is due to the fact that doctors can treat infection but won't get paid a lot of money when it's just stress and tension. Doctors are looking for a "cause" that they can treat medically. When we, as patients, accept that fact that the pain and symptomology we suffer from is caused by internal factors such as coping skill deficits or our inability to deal with stress then only we can solve it. Indeed, medication can help us relax but in the end we must develop better ways to deal with the tension in our lives.

intercourse - way too long

In response to my age. I am 42 and have suffered from chronic prostatitis / chronic pelvic pain syndrome since 1997. I developed it soon after my wife of 9 years revealed to me that she had been sexually abused while growing up. Tension and stress related to "sexual" matters - you bet. I realize that a lot of my issues and pain are related to how I have chosen to deal with my wife's past.
The Zoloft does affect my ability to last longer. The Cialis does not assist in this manner however. I was taking Cilais prior to taking Zoloft and I would ejaculate fast but not as fast. Due to taking the Cialis I could ejaculate and then immediately continue with intercourse. The Zoloft as stated prior has allowed me much better control. Are there issues related to my ability to delay ejaculation??? Yes, the longer I have had chronic prostatitis / chronic pelvic pain syndrome the worse my sexual ability has become. The stress of having chronic prostatitis / chronic pelvic pain syndrome has also caused more tension. So, it's a vicious cycle. The Baclofen has helped me to notice when I am holding my pelvic muscle in too tight. I often catch myself tensing those muscles and then I relax them. I never realized how much I was tensing those pelvic muscles. Hopefully now I can learn to relax them.

In response to the above statement - I would have to say yes and no. The erection doesn't feel that same initially. After about 10-15 minutes of intercourse it does feel the same and it is as strong pre CPPS. One thing that I have noticed while taking the Cialis is that there is no need to tighten the PC muscle. I can if I choose to but this only makes the pain afterwards worse. I've concluded that while taking the Cialis the blood flow to my pelvic region increases and the muscles and nerves receive more blood and thus relieves the pain. One thing that I have noticed is that if I do not engage in a marathon sex-fest I have almost no pain while the Cialis is still in my system. As long as there is increased bllod flow the pain in absent or near absent. That to me speaks to the muscles and nerves being restricted due to tension. After about 72 hours on the Cialis the pain returns. Muscle relaxers, anti-anxiety drugs are excellent but will do little long-term if we continue to consciously and unconsciously continue to tense our pelvic muscles in response to stress, tension and responsibilities in our lives.

I'm in agreement with the other folks; marathon sessions are really bad for us chronic prostatitis / chronic pelvic pain syndrome sufferers. Just thinking of some of my nights in college can cause me to suffer from pain. Until your muscles are strong enough and healthy enough to sustain such long term tension from sexual activity, it's best to restrict that part of the love making to a reasonable time. There are a lot of other things you can do in love making other than have intercourse for an hour, but of course now I sound like a Cosmo article...

Hey there,

How long have you been on Zoloft?
Are you on Zoloft primarily for premature ejaculation, or for mood elevation?

I've always found that the sexual side-effects of common antidepressents lessen somewhat over time, as you get used to it. They usually reduce slightly within the first three months, after drymouth gets less.

Maybe you need a change in dose of Zoloft. But you SHOULD ALWAYS SEE A DOCTOR to adjust your perscribed medications.
In any case, you can talk to your doctor about this issue. Most doctors are very hip about the sexual side-effects of antidepressants, as it is a reason many patients adjust their own intake of pills. Doctors don't want you to do that, and should be receptive to discussing your concerns and your particular reason for wanting to do something about it.

This is not medical advice, and I am NOT a doctor of medicine or a related field.
* Age:33 Onset: February 2004.
* 99.9% IMPROVEMENT in 2.5 Years with the first year being the really hard part
* Current Symptoms: Mild irritation of perineal muscles on occasion. Relieved for days at a time by a specific stretch (see below).
* Initial Symptoms: Terrible penile, urethral, rectal, and perineal burning/aching with addition afferent sensations.
* Current Treatments: Deep stretching of the legs and pelvis. Most effective: Deep psoas and levitar ani stretch using the first phase of the "pigeon pose" from Yoga. When a deep pulling is felt in the middle of the pelvis next to the upper rectum, symptoms are completely alleviated for several days.
* Past Treatments Hyperprotection of the perineum for 1.7 years, Walking, Rectal biofeedback, Stanford/Wise-Anderson Protocol, Conditioned deep relaxation practice, Men's Multi-Vitamin and an Extra B-complex pill, all seemed to help.

Zoloft is probably the worst SSRI for sexual dysfunction. I have taken it, Celexa, Prozac and a few others all of them made me pretty much sexually disfunctional in one way or another and it never let up even after 2-3 months so I always quit them.

I believe if you look up the side effect percentage on Zoloft and compare it to the others it is quite a bit higher. Although all of them definitely can be trouble in the sex department for men.

CIALIS and CPPS

Post by Midland »

Hey Guys,

I'm 24 years old. When I first got chronic prostatitis / chronic pelvic pain syndrome 1.5 years ago, I started using Viagra to overcome my sexual problems. However, I used it sparingly and wasn't having consistent sex. Eventually, the effects of Viagra wore off.

I recently started using Cialis. I pumped a couple of pills in my body but they didn't kick in for a couple of days. But when they did - WOW! I had serious erections for 1 week!!! Because of this my confidence came back. So I started dating this girl. When I'm on dates I take a couple of pills but they're not kicking in!!!

What is going on???? How come these pills work initially and not when I need them to!! Do you need constant sexual stimulation for them to be effective?? For those of you that have wives/gfs this is easy. But for those of us dating girls for the first time how confident would you feel getting intimate when there's a chance you won't get an erection!!!

Any suggestions guys? For some of you, these pills work. For others, they don't. For me, they work sometimes. What gives??? But I know for certain, when I am on Cialis, my pain does go away so the increased blood flow is doing something.
