Algonot

Post by Richard.N »

I started using Algonot on the reduced dosage as recommended (2 a day with meals). No stomach ache but increased pelvic discomfort. Is this something to push through? I have stopped taking it ad interim.

YES! any accredited quercetin product does something similar. My theory: the ducts are opening and irritating secretions are being released. It goes away after about a week.
Good News! The great ProstaQ is BACK at last! You must try it.

======I have also seen it in several patients taking Algonot. Seems to be a cytokine-related phenomenon which goes away in 7-10 days. Keep us posted on your progress!

Yep, I noticed that with any accredited quercetin product too - i.e. an increase in discomfort in the Pubic area. I actually stopped taking it for a while because of this, but took it again and stuck with it and it did gradually go away.

Algonot

Post by Richard.N »

Any known clashes with antibiotics? I'm hoping Algonot will be complimentary and if it improves I'll consider stopping abx. I don't really want to make the leap of faith and stop taking my maintenance dose (which really helps) yet if I can help it. I've heard quercetin and Cipro don't mix - any contra-indictations with other abx?

Just don't take any quinolones concurrently (Cipro, levo, etc)

7 Days In

Post by Richard.N »

Soon I go up to 2 capsules 3 times a day and I only hope this mega dose is decisive in persuading me to stay on Algonot or pack it in.

I remain more uncomfortable than I was taking antibiotics alone, and now the on/off feeling that I am going down with something, accompanied by non-specific back pain is building up again.

Actually, until a properly designed prospective placebo controlled trial is done for Algonot in CPPS, nobody knows whether it helps, is neutral or hurts and what the drug interactions and side effects are. Maybe the ingredients are synergistic and maybe they are mutually inhibitory. Maybe they speed symptom improvement and maybe they interfere with each other's absorption. That's why you do clinical trials.

Clinical Trials

Post by Richard.N »

Thank you for your reply Dr. Shoskes. I hadn't thought to check if clinical trials had been carried out. I do get the feeling (only a feeling of course) that something in them is interfering with the erythromycin I am taking (2 x 250mg/day) as a maintenance dose. Could that be the quercetin do you think?

There is no clinical or mechanistic evidence that quercetin interacts with erythromycin (there is THEORETICAL evidence that quercetin may competitively bind with quinolones on E. coli receptors). IF in fact you have a true interaction, I suspect it is with one of the other ingredients in the supplement you are taking.

Quercetin

Post by Richard.N »

I appreciate your response. Do you have knowledge of any individual who has taken erythromycin and any accredited quercetin product at the same time?

It appears to me that when people turn to any accredited quercetin product it is because they have not been helped by abx. I have been helped by a continuous low dose of abx and I would like to find out if any accredited quercetin product has been complimentary to others taking such abx.

I've been on Quercetin for about 2 months and my CP/CPPS symptoms have decreased substantially, probably around 75%. There are still good days and worse days but I feel like I'm getting better still.

I've also noticed that no matter what level of pain I may have, it always seems to be reduced about 1-2 hours after taking Quercetin.

I've had no side effects, other than a few burps that taste a little strange. No indigestion or the tired feeling or increase in pain a few people have commented on.

No stomach problems either. I take 3 in the morning, 3 at night. Also I was told that keeping it in the freezer helps prevent any sort of stomach problems since the pills are large.

I have been VERY happy with it. Studies are definitely needed though, I'm curious to hearing about other people's experiences with it. I hope some studies get done on it because I think it could be very helpful to people.

I'm 26 and have been having CP/CPPS symptoms since early this year, and my urologist supports me taking Quercetin.

All I know is I've felt a hell of a lot better for the 2 months I've been on Algonot than from June-August. That's the bottom line for me.

Burps

They do tend to repeat somewhat don't they?

Have you tried any accredited quercetin product JD? And are you taking anything else with Quercetin?

No I haven't tried Quercetin. I've been taking Peenuts for about 4 months but am beginning to come to conclusion that it's little more than a scam. That's unfortunate since I've spent over 200 dollars on it.

So I've just been taking Peenuts and Quercetin, nothing else since a round of antibiotics early this year.

Same for me... I feel exactly the same and I take any accredited quercetin product also and I feel even better with this combined treatment.
