What other medications are EQUALLY as affective for penetrating prostatic tissue and dealing with chronic prostatitis?. I have decided that I don't EVER want to take quinolone antibiotics again because of the horrific side effects and am looking for a safer (but equally affective) alternative. In the event that no bacteria are involved (which is thought to be the case with chronic prostatitis) what can I take to at least deal with the pain and inflammation?. I believe the Levaquin "cured" me but I'm always reading where this condition can keep coming back time and time again so I would like to be prepared.
Thank you

I was on Cipro (500mg) and Cipro XR (1,000mg) for over a month. Then Levaquin (500mg) for a month. I experienced the following side effects which would come and go. I've listed these side effects in order of severity...bti20 wrote:What side effects did you have, out of interest? Personally, after two months of Cipro, I had the most intense bout of what I can only describe as total insanity, total insomnia and the most horrid burning sensation in my arms - like my bones were on fire. The worst week of my life. :alert:
* Abdominal burning/aching/tenderness, gas, cramps, explosive diarrhea
* Aches and pains in joint and muscles
* Left side pain (including tenderness in spermatic cord and testical)
* Dizziness/lightheadedness
* Numbness in toes
* Lethargy/Chronic fatigue/lack of motivation
* Loss of libido (probably because I felt like crap)
* Irritability/anger
* Memory problem, lack of motivation and unable to concentrate
* Itching all over in middle of night
* Depression
* Shortness of breath
* Eyes felt blurry/focusing problems sometimes
* Mild headaches
Well, that's all I can think about for now. I've just taken another pill and have one more left to go. Please let me know if you have any more questions.

Read https://ucpps.men and the archived forums on this site. There are many treatments to try that are way safer than antibiotics.
