Where does it all end?

Post by GoatWhisperer »

I was just wondering, well, where it all ends. I mean, if you get prostatitis, take Cipro for a month, feel better, finish your prescription ... BUT THEN ...it creeps back again and so you start on a month of Levaquin and take that for a month and it gets better again and then you end up on Doxycycline and then Ampicillin and then...

I mean, WHERE on earth does it all end?

:firing: PROSTATITIS

Try and get out of the thinking that it's all infection based, and look at trying a different approach.

You've had the links above before, does the Pelvic Myoneuropathy explaination not make sense? It certainly answers your question.

This is a frustrating condition but I've found that being positive and actively trying something other then waiting for a pill to cure it all (which isn't going to happen for nearly everyone who has found this forum) made a big difference for me.

Scotsman is right. I went through ABX after ABX and while they seemed to help, the pain would slowly creep back. I thought, the next time this happens I am not taking ABX.

Well, the next flare came and at the same time I was stressed out at work. I went to the doc and told him about my stress/upset stomach but not my prostatitis flare. He perscribed Xanax for the stress and told me to get some good sleep.

Well a few days after I took the Xanax I noticed a huge improvment in my conditition. I don't know if the Xanax helped or if the flare had run its course. But one thing I know is that ABX had nothing to do with it going away this time.

Just some food for thought.

Its been a year since this started with me and it has taken that whole year to change my mindset about ABX, thanks to this site.

Have you been diagnosed with an infection ? If not do a search on this web site under antibiotics and find out what a waste of time they are . There are hundreds of us that wasted our time and money on antibiotics . My doc still tries to give them to me . I don't take them because the pain will fade away just following the protocols on this site . Spend your money on things that work . Keep fighting and you will get better .

Thank's for all the replies people.

To Scotsman: Yes, I've visited not only the (very helpful) links that you provided but many others as well. I have gleaned a great deal of absolutely FANTASTIC information from folks just like you people and from doing a lot of reading in these (and other) forums. As far as the possability of my having chronic prostatitis / chronic pelvic pain syndrome is concerned, you would certainly think that if several courses of powerful antibiotics did'nt do the trick, that maybe I do indeed suffer from this (rather than prostatitis). I hope that's all it is because I sure am getting tired of popping pills. I mean, I just can't see taking antibiotics for the rest of my life and I'm sure it would'nt be good for me anyway.

As far as taking Xanax is concerned, I have suffered from anxiety, depression and OCD for most of my adult life so I've tried just about all of them and you are correct about Xanax and other benzodiazepines helping a lot with prostatitis and CPPS. For example, I have a large bottle of Lorazepam and take one on an "as needed" basis for Generalized Anxiety Disorder and I have noticed that when I take one, it really helps a LOT with my prostatitis/CPPS symptoms so I definately agree with you. I've also managed to get my hands on some Neurontin and Tramadol and have heard that these help a lot too.

On another note, I have discovered that going without sex (ie; masturbation) for long periods of time (ie; 3-4 days at a time) gives the prostate a chance to calm down and heal itself and this has caused a pretty significant decrease in my symptoms. In the end, I guess this is just a chronic, long-term disease and once you get past the intitial shock of knowing that your stuck with it for the rest of your life, sooner or later you find ways of coping and dealing with symptoms. I know, I am a LOT better than I was in the beginning. In the beginning, I was literally squirming on the floor in unbelievable pain from what I believe *may* have been the acute form of prostatitis and later, the urologist did a massage and after looking at my EPS under a microscope, told me that I would need to be on antibiotics for LONG time so I assume it was bacterial in nature.

Incidentally, can prostatitis lead to impotentence and does Viagra or Cialis help at all?. I'm 42 so I'm not horny all the time or anything but I have noticed that this condition also affects me sexually (to an extent).

Thank's again people:)

Antibiotics

Post by Richie »

The biggest problem is taking the plunge in getting off antibiotics and realizing that what instigated the problem is long gone.

The pills I was taking (Cipro, bactrim, levaquin) definitely reduced drive and the fear did not help either. You may find bigger damage is being done by the levaquin and other pills if you stay on them too long.

Please see my initial posts a few months ago when these people helped me....I was in the same boat and stopped all the pills after the kind responses.
Age: 44 | Symptoms: Pain in pelvis, Post urination drip. Helped by: Squat stretching, PT, Prelief before banned foods, Vit B, Cystoprotec AFTER foods, singulair after foods, Exercise. Makes worse: Stress, Alcohol (1-2 days after), coffee, Artificial sweeteners, chocolate, tonic Wheat/gluten. Drink a lot of water!!! 95% better to date!

Where is that "initial post" Richie?. I would like to read that. Can you post a link please?. You know, it's funny you mention the "reduced drive" because I have felt like my testosterone is WAY down for the last few weeks. I used to masturbate at least once a day but now I can only go every 3-4 days and even then, I'm not realy even in the mood and just do it to "clean out the pipes". My penis will also get rock hard and then right in the middle of sex, suddenly go totally limp like a wet noodle. I then have to really work it to get it back up to where I can have my orgasm. So frustrating. Could the Levaquin be causing this?. I have been taking it for 2-3 weeks now and before that, a month of Cipro. Also, can Cipro/Levaquin cause your toes to go numb?.

My link. Be very careful of the levaquin, it causes serious damage and I still have incredible joint pain from it. And yes, I had the symptoms you describe which all went away when I stopped the antibiotics.

Another tip, now that you have killed every known bacteria in your stomach, you will have serious runs/digestive problems. Begin eating yogurts with active bacteria to restore this. It definitely helps.

Please note, I am not a doctor, just my experience.
