Trigger points

Post by Viking »

I have a question for those who have trigger points and have had any kind of therapy to release those. Is it easy to locate them or does it require a really good therapist ?

I keep hearing that squeezing the TPs might in a way replicates the symptoms. I have tried to press on several spots in the groin region as well as in the rectum, but can`t say that I feel any soreness or anything that resembles the pain in the penis.

Thanks for sharing

A good therapist can probably help you locate your trigger points. Some trigger points are too deep to locate yourself. For example, myofascial trigger points in the levator ani are inside the rectum; trigger points in the psoas are deep in your back, but can be palpated from the front of the abdomen, etc.

Palpating the trigger points can indeed replicate a distribution of myofascial pain. They may then be released by massage, needling, or injection. However, I would not recommend palpating them yourself if you do not know the actual trigger points.
