Until few weeks ago, and after 15 years of experimentation, my best way to deal with post masturbation/sex pelvic pain was internal massage. The internal massage is a painful process and psychologically hard on me to accept as a way of life. I also regularly took hot baths and sat on heating pads. Still, recovering from a post-ejaculation pain took at least 4 days of doing all these things.
Enter dry sauna. I did not even expect it to do much, in fact I went there for the heck of it because I joined a new gym. So far, five times out of five flare ups, 15 mins in dry sauna has taken 70-90% of the pain away. Whatever pain left has been manageable. When I did both stretch then sauna (don't know why I chose this order), two times out of 5, I was 90% pain free within an hour. Tempted to go for longer than 15 mins but sauna has its risks you should read about before jumping there. Also dried my hair and skin out, but there are ways to avoid that.
I am crossing fingers and hoping that this continues to work. Would be just amazing.
I searched the forum and saw some positive mention of Sauna, but since my experience has been very impressive (dry sauna), I thought I will give it its own post.

Dry sauna helped me tremendously
Age: 33| Onset Age: 24 | Symptoms: dull ache in pelvic area, tension, feeling the need to urinate, frequency, dribbling after urination, ED symptoms started 6 moths after the onset wrecking my life since, abdominal tension, tension in my thighs. | Helped By: stretching/massage , benzos | Worsened By: Mainly sex, but also sitting and anxiety| Other comments: I have seen periods of substantially less flare-ups, but now I am at a steady state where it comes back almost always after sex.

Re: Dry sauna helped me tremendously
Dry sauna seems to be a new twist on the ancient medical advice of "taking a sitz bath for prostatitis". Heat and warm weather generally lead to less symptoms (this forum is much quieter in the northern hemisphere's summer months), and in fact there is research linking cold weather to symptom exacerbation.
Another person who recommended saunas, well actually "steam baths", was CarlD:

The difference between a sauna and a steam room can be summed up simply -- dry vs. wet. Saunas provide dry heat, while steam rooms generate moist heat. Both can open up your pores, loosen up your muscles and help you relax
Good News! The great ProstaQ is BACK at last! You must try it.

Hey ppp, I agree with you as well that internal work is the number 1 thing for me that helps resolve my post ejaculatory pain. Pressing on and holding these trigger points is key to release it.
I have not tried using the sauna. I will have to experiment with this and see how it goes.

Hi,
Yes sauna helps me too.. at least during really bad flares it takes the pain for 30 minutes... for me steam room also helps.... when I sit I put one leg on the seat this takes the pressure of the pelvis some what.
I would also recommend wearing a warm wool undergarment under your trousers. Even at temperatures around 18 19 degrees

Re: Dry sauna helped me tremendously
OP here: 1.5 years later, I can say without hesitation that Dry Sauna is so far the best CPPS pain management in my case, from a quality of life perspective. A thorough internal wand massage is more likely to relieve pain, but it is very painful - physically and mentally - that I welcome dry sauna as an alternative that equally reduces pain when the pain is on the lower side of the scale. If the pain is 7+ then a wand massage cannot be skipped.
My experience - my regimen - no recommendations in here.

Re: Dry sauna helped me tremendously
So this thread has convinced me to give this a go. I have a gym membership that has a dry sauna so might as well try it a few times even though I don't seem to have flares so much as constant symptoms. If it works I may consider getting one for our house once we move next year. You can get one for home use for about 1,000 USD it seems.
