Bill Taylor, physiotherapist (UK)

Post by graeme »

First of all the guy is very understanding and clued up in this and put you at ease straight away.

He has been treating this using trigger point therapy for 5 years now and is still learning (his words) from his patients!

He has treated over 200 men now and without ever promising it will work for everyone most do benfit !

He is off to see a women in the summer maybe with a patient or 2 who trained the Stanford team Dr wise, Tim etc in this work (webslave might know her name I forget) after he told me

Now my day:

After a 20 mins chat he went to work on me first of all he tried something that he had read recently on CPPS sufferers, who have pain not chronic prostatitis / chronic pelvic pain syndrome pain but local pain when he applied a massage to the muscle between the arms and chest just above the arm pit, I nearly hit the roof to my amazement he said when pelvic floor tensers also tense here in some cases !

He he put an ultrasound on my bladder and wanted to watch me as I breathed and lift my pelvic floor to 3 levels each one higher than the last when breathing out, the screen showed how my muscles were not letting go how they should in fact they hardly did at all when relaxing the bladder.

Now the time I was dreading and part that I thought would show nothing it was internal time :(

All I can say was what Bill found and the pain was all the proof I needed 15 -20 trigger points :crying:

Now only 2 remade my symptoms but the rest were all very painful in different ways in fact I had the golf ball feeling for the first time and Bill made it clear a normal pelvic floor would have no pain in any of the places he touched !

He said even though only couple relieved my symptoms they could all cross and be involved !

He said unlike Stanford and how he used to do it, instead of just concentrating on the ones that remake your symptoms he has had better results in treating all of them as a whole.

He showed me how stretched damaged tissue causes the burning just like when you hold 2 fingers wide apart for a long time the skin in the middle burns.

He showed me how to do the some internal work basic for now on my self using the 12 9, 6, and3 0clock positions, and told me to to use any good relaxation skill and agreed that paradox is not possible for most men 2 hours plus a day but alternatives can work.

He said guys who have had remissions normally have the best results as the body gets out this mess on its own at times so we can aid it !

So it look like I've found my problem now the hard part LET THE TREATMENT BEGIN !

I'm back in a few weeks for stretches and more work :-D

THANKS JAMES (The Battler) for sending me to Bill ! and the £5 bus

And Scotsman !

So glad you went, and found it beneficial after thinking last week about not going. I am looking forward to going next month. Funny you mention the chest near the armpit area as I have been finding this area painful and tight lately, but didn't attribute it to my pelvic region. So how are you feeling now after the day - any pain? Just that you were worried his prodding around would start it all off again? Also, how did you get from the airport to his clinic?
Age: 33 | Onset Age: 32 Initial Symptoms: Frequent urination Current Symptoms: The odd feeling of frequency but not much else Helped By: Not thinking about it, hot bath, red wine, light exercise, Bowen technique seems to help, getting on with my life Worsened By: catastrophic thinking, worrying things will get worse, feeling depressed, reading websites too often! Work! Sitting in work all day isn't good!! Current Progress : Since 1st Sept 08, no pain!!! :)

I have mysterious appearance of swellings within the armpit. Red swellings. Hurt a lot (but not as much as pelvic pain). They disappear after sometime. Took 1 month of antibiotics. They kept on reappearing. Finally stopped as I could not eat anytihng due to acidity and docs said go to infectious disease unit. It went away on its own but keep on reappearing along with sore throat (on the same side as swellings). Have not understood it as yet.

These are swollen lymph glands. I had them all over the body, in the groin, under the edge of the ribcage, under arms. The best explanation any MD gave me was that my immune system was revved up, in my case probably by a chronic fight or flight state, IOW severe stress. Stress is a killer. The swollen, tender lymph nodes — lymphadenitis — slowly subsided over a matter of years. I now no longer have tender lymph glands.

Unanswered is the question: did my wheat/gluten allergy have a role to play in this?

When you come out the airport there are are buses lined up on your right with a little ticket office, get the bus to princess street(city centre) which is £5 return (a taxi will cost £15 one way ) it takes about 20 mins.then you are about a 15 min walk from Bills clinic, I printed a map off from AA route finder so I could locate my way to Comely Bank avenue; others just phone the clinic up and they will guide you in

The buses run every 10 mins and 20 mins through the night saves you a lot of cash as the taxis are no quicker as they are stuck in the the same traffic !

Hope this helps Chris !

I'm feeling much looser today was a bit sore yesterday in fact bill avoided flaring me by pressing to hard and long by saying it is not necessary to put people in pain to relieve pain and it also frightens people from coming again he says !

Graeme

This is truly great news - keep at it mate .

The one thing I like about Bill is that he "casts the net" as wide as possible and does not simply focus on the pelvic muscles and the pelvic trigger points.

I am seeing him on Feb 1 and I will report back my progress. I am currently typing this with only a mild discomfort in my perineum (a sort of pull feeling) and little or no pain in the tip of my penis. I still sit on my cushion at work and my next objective is to get rid of this!

I have done no internal trigger point work for over 3 weeks now and this has coincided with my best period with regards levels of pain. Not sure what I should do now!

I find my stomach tightening and lifting for little or no reason throughout the day which is very annoying, it seems to be a subconscious action to hold myself in. I think its a throwback to the days when I had an infection and was peeing 5 times an hour!

I am also going to see an MFR specialist in Glasgow in March who I have seen before and who treats chronic prostatitis / chronic pelvic pain syndrome patients. If anyone wants her details please do let me know

As I said for for the last 10 days things had improved waned off but having had this 15 years this often happens but always comes back but just because I can't always feel the symptoms when someone touches the spot they are all still there for sure waiting to hit me again :agree:

I'm a little sore today but hey this has to be expected after 20 trigger points made me jump in pain

I'm hoping the next few days the I will all calm as it it says in A HEADACHE IN THE PELVIS I'm not expecting no immediate results anyways I will judge this further down the line.

To think Bill has never had this yet knows so much and is so interested is a credit to the man !

I found her by doing a search on the internet and I am in touch with one chronic prostatitis / chronic pelvic pain syndrome sufferer who is 100% cured. He went to see Ruth once a week fro around 3-4 months.

she does not do internal work but is very good MFR specialist. She cured my lower back problems. I have seen her about 4 times but not since October last year from when I have been to see Bill.

Big game tonight for the Blue army!

What does she do then if she does not do internal work just external ?

I had no triggers on the outside which recreated pelvic pain but I was very tight and had local pain which Bill found ?

How much does she cost per session ?

James you are really going for this ££££££ fair play to you and I hope you come out smiling

She does MFR work on all parts of the body including the pelvis. I had not tried any internal work so I thought I would try Bill as I thought that this may be the missing link. Ruth has treated many chronic prostatitis / chronic pelvic pain syndrome sufferors who have only internal trigger point pain with external MFR

I really like seeing Ruth as she is very knowledgeable and you get very good treatment.

She costs £125 for 3 hours. She only really does 3 hour sessions for people who are travelling a fair distance to see her. I just feel like I have to try everything to find out what works and does not work.

Unfortunately no buses stop near her centre so its taxis I am afraid!

It's great that you have found out that TP's are the root of your symptoms, but a few points:
graeme wrote:All i can say was what Bill found and the pain was all the proof i needed 15 -20 trigger points :crying:
Are you saying that he found 20 internal trigger points?
graeme wrote:Now only 2 remade my symptoms
Referred pain in predictable regions as a result of pressure is a hallmark of trigger points, and a key diagnostic criterion. This is basic and well documented.
graeme wrote:He said unlike stanford and how he used to do it ,instead of just concentrating on the ones that remake your symptoms he has had better results in treating all of them as a whole .
See above.
graeme wrote:He and told me to to use any good relaxation skill and agreed that paradox is not possible for most men 2 hours plus a day but alternitves can work.
Where does it state that you have to do Paradoxical relaxation (or any form of relaxation) for 2 hours plus a day for CPPS?
This is not Medical advice - Consult your Doctor!

Age:39. Age at onset:31. Symptoms prior to treatment: Golf ball in rectum, severe urinary frequency (2-3x/hr; 5-10x/night); weak stream; painful ejaculation; coccygeal pain; tip of penis pain; general pelvic pain on left; testicular pain; supra-pubic pain. Current | Symptoms: Urinary frequency 1x every 2-3 hrs and 1-2 x a night; mild pelvic pain on left hand side (all symptoms still improving!)
Helped by: Trigger point release; avoiding exercise; pelvic floor relaxation; Neurontin decreased bladder sensitivity somewhat. Worsened by: Exercise; frequent ejaculation; ibuprofen irritates bladder. Made no difference: Diet; biofeedback; quercetin; Steroid anti-inflammatories; Elavil.

****UPDATE*** I am now able to sit again at work all day, and can perform moderate aerobic exersise again for the first time in 8 years!!!
