Cystoscopy - ????
Cystoscopy - ????
Getting one done Thursday but some are saying not to as 'CPPS is not organ specific but a tension problem coming from elsewhere. Cystoscopy can be very painful and cause urethra damage'. Like I'm not nervous already !!! Only 5 weeks into this and only have pain in the head of the penis. I feel I need to go ahead with it otherwise I will never know if there is a physical issue there.

You should definitely do it. It may find something simple to fix. It burns afterwards for a few days, but so what. Chance of damage very, very small.

Re: Cystoscopy - ????
Worrying just makes the overall condition worse for you. I've had 2 and it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. As always, everybody is different after a cystoscopy, but both of mine only irritated me for a few hours afterward, mostly while urinating. Its going to burn like he'll, but just relax. You'll do just fine.
Age: 52 | Onset Age:49 (but I may have had warning signs 25 yrs earlier)| Symptoms: Pretty much all the usual suspects. Frequency, urgency, inability to always empty, burning and numbing uretheral, penile & perineum pain. Frequent urination at night.| Helped By: Internal PT. Myrbetriq helps but is by no means great. TENS to help sleep, and hand held massages of the lower back, hips and buttocks. Standing and physical labor help. Stretches and hot baths. Occasionally use gel iced pad on the perineum. Worsened By: Sitting (being sedentary), driving, sex, bowel movements, tight clothing and underwear. | Other comments: Currently trying L-Theanine
Re: Cystoscopy - ????
Anyone who had this before any comments as I am on day 2 after the Cystoscopy. Had a stricture and believe he cut the urethra open a bit to allow less restriction. On day 2, still stinging/burning when peeing and blood at the beginning of the stream. Is this normal. I can't contact my urologist until Tuesday. I don't have any nausea or feel unwell, just a bit worried it is still bleeding a bit.

Re: Cystoscopy - ????
Completely normal. Even a straight cystoscopy stings for about 4-7 days. A little blood in start of urine is normal after what (I presume) you had done, a direct vision internal urethrotomy (DVIU). Persistent bleeding is abnormal and should be reported.

Re: Cystoscopy - ????
Ok
no it's not persistent bleeding. Comes and goes and is only at start of the stream when it does bleed, goes normal colour soon after stream starts. Still feeling that frequency to urinate in the head of penis but I guess it may need time to heal now. I was sort of expecting the feeling to go after he dealt with stricture but 2 days after is prob too soon to expect it to be gone.

I agree, it takes a few days at least for is all to settle...after all when you think about it, it's tiny wounds inside which have to heal.
I had cystoscopy and prostate injections of steroid (which did not help by the way). It took a few days for initial bleeding upon urination to settle and a week or so to feel back to "normal"

Re: Cystoscopy - ????
Thanks, Ranzzar, I was able to contact the clinic yesterday who advised me I had a Urethrotomy due to the stricture, therefore I will have some extended bleeding and burning beyond if I just had a normal Cystoscopy. May take up to a couple of weeks for everything to heal for me. All normal supposedly. I thought the feeling of having to urinate would go straight after the op but this will take time due to the urethral having been inflamed for the past 5 weeks.
