Lifting weights?

I am curious if it is ok to lift weights with CPPS? Not that I am a body builder, quite the contrary I had a very late start in lifting weights. I literally started lifting 10 lb dumbbells at the ripe age of 21 and did not even start getting more serious to going to the gym until after 25. Unfortunately I am an ectomorph (naturally really scrawny and have a hard time putting on any muscle). I want to gain some muscle weight to help with my confidence a bit, since I would say about half of the demographic of women out there weigh more than me! At my heaviest I was close to 140 lb and now am only 120 lbs. When I moved out of my home my diet kind of suffered since I didn't get home cooked meals anymore from my mom. I have bad eating habits (skip meals sometimes, hardly eat 2000 calories a day, and eat late). Seems like I hardly have an appetite or can never finish an entire plate unless I smoke marijuana.

Back when I was 140 lb, most of that was belly fat that I have now lost. My goal is to gain anywhere from 25-30 lb of muscle by the time I'm 30. However I am slightly concerned if lifting weights may be bad for my trigger points? If they are already tight, I am probably making the muscle harder by working out. Especially with workouts that target the abdominals since that is where most of my neurological wind up is. Or maybe I am wrong and it could be beneficial for me.

If I am not wrong according to the Headache in the Pelvis book, lifting weights should be avoided till things get better down there. Or at least some type of exercises with weights.

My initial reaction to the problem was to stop exercising, fearful that I had a pinched nerve or whatever. This only made it worse. Lately I've actually been exercising more than usual, including weightlifting and making sure to get some cardio at least every other day, which has been a much better strategy for me. I lift weights lighter than usual in order to make sure I don't strain anything and I put a lot more emphasis on cardio and stretching than usual, but I think that quitting your exercise altogether is one of the worst things you can do.

Plus, exercise is a great stress buster and I think it also reduces tension in the muscles down there if they get tired out a bit through a combination of something like jogging and swimming+stretching. Ironically, just laying in bed all day hoping to recover only makes you tighter and more stressed out.

It's generally best to avoid squat-type exercises that flex the hips under load.

I do light weights and no squat lifting and no sit ups. You can crunch carefully from time to time...But I waited 3 years after my onset and once I really understood and knew how to drop my pelvic floor all day long. So now when I'm at the gym...I make an effort to only lift enough where I'm still able to relax the pelvic floor and not clench the PC muscle! The same muscle that can stop your urine flow when you pee...
