I just wanted to say after 10 years of dealing with this issue. I have found something that has decreased symptoms dramatically enough to feel that I don't have prostatitis. Please try LDN (low dose naltrexone). I would suggest trying to get a hold of some.

It is marketed in generic form as its hydrochloride salt, naltrexone hydrochloride, and marketed under the trade names Revia and Depade. Also in the US, Methylnaltrexone Bromide, a closely related drug, is marketed as Relistor, for the treatment of opioid induced constipation. I take 3-4.5 mg a day right before I go to bed. There are no side effects to this drug that I have noticed except that it clears my depression greatly.
I feel fantastic on it. I still have prostatitis, but I have zero symptoms. So I have to take it once a night before I go to bed. I ran into this drug by reading a great deal upon it and doing tons of research on it. The hardest part of is trying to find a place to buy it. When I found a place to buy it instead of asking doctors I was greatly relieved of all my symptoms. My sex life has returned back to normal after a significant period of ED.

Just note, we are talking about LOW DOSE naltrexone. NOT naltrexone. It's the same drug, but it works differently in different doses.

This is sounds very interesting. I heard about other people taking this to cure their Prostatitis/CPPS. But I have never heard any reports off anyone getting better off with this drug. Where do you get your prescription and where do you buy your medicine? Or do you buy it without prescription?

Blaker, how long has this improvement lasted so far? I ask because there are many things that make pelvic pain patients feel better, for a while only.

I have done some research about LDN. It seams like there are many people with firstly Crohns and secondly MS that have become much better. Some people with Crohns, CFS and IBS have even got cured. The question is if this medicine works with CPPS/Prostatitis. LDN works as LDN boost the production of endorphins in the body and thereby stimulate the immune system. I can get my hands on this medicine thru a secure Internet pharmacy. So I have decided to try if it works for a couple of months. I just have stop the herbs and things I'm currently taking. I don't want anything to interfere with this test. The problem now is that I can't find anything about how this medicine works together with Elavil (Amitriptylin). I know LDN seriously interferes with opioids since it is a addiction drug. A big warning there if anyone thinking off trying LDN! I will report back when I have my hands on LDN and start the test.

My research shows there is also a negative reaction to Benzo's as well. I dont know about amitriptyline but I wouldn't think so since its primarily an anti depression/anxiety med and many opioid users need these when getting off them and I see no mention of tricyclics in the materials that I've seen.

Call CVS the pharmacist will tell you if its compatible.

I've have been on LDN about 1.5 months and my symptoms including trigger points and inflammation have decreased massively. I still have symptoms but with LDN together Allicin I haven't been feeling this good since this all started. Somedays I am almost pain free.

Blake, do you mix your own LDN and make your own capsules? Or do you make your own mixture with distilled water? I make my own with distilled water but the mixture looses in power after someday. Foe how long have you been taken LDN and for how long did you improve until you did feel you didn't have prostatitis and have zero symptoms?

This is very interesting. I came across this below on a forum where the poster suffers from CPPS/PBS too, and has taken Naltrexone.

One of my biggest challenges in taking any medication around bedtime is that virtually all of them (both drug & filler) trigger initial mast cell degranulation (substance P, etc.). Couple this with the interaction of body cleansing itself (acidic release) during the 6-8 hours of sleep and it’s pretty much a guaranteed flare-up (abdominal/bladder) that can perpetuate for days. It’s truly the “vicious cycle” because even though a medication could potentially assist in the long-run by curbing the aberrant activity, short-term consequences of the flare causes so much additional neuro-constriction (trigger points in the muscle housing these inflammatory components) that it compounds the problem as a whole. (Potentially the allergic/intolerance reported by others as well.) "

Mast cell degranulation is a worry alright. I will discuss this with my GP and see what he thinks.

Very interesting! I don't have the same problem. But I take pure powder without any fillers. I make my own liquid with the exact strength of 4,5 mg which I keep in the refrigerator. I make 50ml liquid at each time from distilled water and a 50mg Naltrexone pill. The pill is without any filler. I never had any problems except feeling "speeded" at bedtime and having problems falling asleep. If I want have a night out with alcohol, I have to skip taking LDN. So if someone calls after I have taken my LDN, I can't drink any alcohol. I have to stick to Coca Cola or water at the nightclub :). I have noticed that my tinnitus has almost gone away. I'm so happy! And today was the first day my Naprapath said he had trouble finding my Trigger points on my left side. Some of them were almost gone.

Wonder if anyone else have tried LDN and had any success? Wonder what Urologists have to say about use of LDN for CPPS? Blake/Atari - how long did you take LDN before you noticed any positive effect?

My doctor can't prescribe me it at all, he says he needs a letter from my consultant urologist. It would be great if it could be got in certain foods or in health stores! I have left a message with my uro to see what he thinks about giving it a go.
