Does anyone have trigger points right at the anus? Not inside, but right at the anus. I have a very tender spot there that does replicate some of my pelvic pain when I push sideways on it. I don't know if it is a trigger point, or if that is normal and would happen to anyone who pushed on that spot, since all of the pelvic muslces and nerves are tied together in that area.
Thanks,
Trigger Point at Anus
Trigger Point at Anus
Age: 43 Onset Age: 27 Symptoms: significant perineum pain, soreness & burning in pelvic area, shivers. Helped By: Internal PT & stretching Worsened By: overfull bladder.
Re: Trigger Point at Anus
Yes. In fact I had a lot of pain after pt. In that spot or a similar spot. The therapist fixed it with one treatment. Kinda just pushed on it and stretched it out a bit. Never had a problem since that day. She said she felt a knot and that she got it out. It'll go away by itself probably. Can't hurt rt to try and work on it though.
Good to go!
Re: Trigger Point at Anus
I've had trigger points along there come and go. It seems they are the easiest to work out for me using the wand. Initially, it is painful to press, but after some time, the pain diminishes and eventually in one sitting, the pain is gone. I do not get too much referral pain in that area, it is very localized. By applying pressure or "stretching" that area is my way of dealing with those trigger points.
They usually stay dormant for a while. I have reduced my internal work down significantly to 2 times a week. I have more issues with external trigger points in my inner thighs and abs.
Thanks,
ATMA

Oh Man. I just accidentally flared these exact muscles up and it's unbelievably painful to touch. I've never had these muscles flare up before and I hope I can release them sooner rather than later. They are the muscles just around the sphincter and just outside of it. The pain they create is very localized but it's really painful.
Age: 33 | Onset Age: 28
Flare | Symptoms: burning after urination/defecation, post-urinary dribbling, low libido, low arousal, pelvic aches and pains.
Helped By: Physical therapy of the levator ani muscle group, Relaxation, Diet

I have a very localised pain around that area as well. Just on the inside in particular. But it also creates this general un-wellness that's pretty intense. Do you guys get that feeling as well.
Age:24 | Onset Age:22 | Symptoms: Urgency and penile tip pain. Frequency at it worst. Reduced libido and functioning. | Helped By: Prostate massage. That's about it so far. Haven't thoroughly tried PT yet however. | Worsened By: Sitting. Perhaps stress and negative thoughts. Chiro, candida detox and standard treatments have not helped.

Re: Trigger Point at Anus
In my case, when I initially discovered I had chronic prostatitis / chronic pelvic pain syndrome and started to take quercetin, the muscles of my outer anus were the most distinguishable trigger points. 15 months later the trigger points have moved away from my anus to the lower perineum, pelvic mound, and lower abs. I used to have a lot more pain during my bowel movements in the beginning when I had outer anus area trigger points. Nowadays, I am passing stools with more ease since my trigger points have moved to other areas of my body.
Age: 29 | Onset Age: 23 | Symptoms: inflammation of perineum, outer/inner anal trigger points, right side of penis feels strangulated, constant spasm in perineum, tightness in lower abdominal area and pelvis mound. Update: tightness on ankle on right foot, tight hamstrings, tightness in lower back, tingling in hands, trigger points near ribs, chest, and back. Tightness in jaw, sinuses, throat. | Helped By: Quercetin, Elavil, Running, Yoga, Sitz Baths, Cannabis (unpredictable: sometimes helps sometimes worsens) | Worsened By: Sitting, Kegels, Anxiety, Rushed masturbation, straining on toilet, biking, alcohol.

Yes, this "general un-wellness" thing seems to be associated with these muscles flaring for me. I released myself from this flare last week and then doing some maintenance massage set the area off again and I'm suffering with these muscles once more. Totally lame. They have brought on an upset feeling that radiates into my lower stomach and lower back. Sometimes this discomfort created in my lower stomach can make me feel like I need to gag or something along those lines.
