2nd PT today

Post by garyholc »

Just got back home from flying up to Scotland to see Bill Taylor again. I haven't posted on here for a while now as I have been feeling a lot better lately. This was my 2nd visit to Bill and I was going up just to try and resolve some minor issues I have been having. My confidence since seeing him last month has soared, and this time I got the bus from the airport and walked the 20 minutes from the bus stop to his clinic, and back again afterwards with no worries or problems.

Anyway, as ever Bill was very friendly and spent nearly 2hours with me. I felt better in myself as he was doing the work, and the pain I had experienced last time did not materialise, except for 3-4 trigger points. He said he felt himself that my muscles were a lot more relaxed now and in much better shape than last time. We spoke for some time about the ED issues, which he said around a third of his patients experience - BUT RECOVER FROM in time. He showed me some exercises to do which should help the muscle which controls the blood flowing in and out of the penis, so I will be doing this - though he suggested I do it 5 times a day, a little difficult in work but will try!

He said when I went to see him last time I had around 30-40 trigger points causing pain, now he said I have got around 10, and I certainly noticed the difference when he did his work. For example, the two trigger points at the base of the penis last time were agony, this time, nothing, they had gone.

I haven't done any work at home since seeing him last, except going out more, enjoying myself more, not coming on here as much as not thinking about it. Obviously my mindset has been a huge boost to my recovery and looking back at the difference in me to a few months ago it is amazing.

I'm going to see how it goes now, and if necessary will pop back up and see Bill again in 2 months just to finalise any trigger points. I did ask him if they go away, or become inactive, he said both, some disappear totally, others will inactivate until you experience stress, and then they come back. I asked if patients of his have to keep going back to see him after successful treatment and he said generally no, patients he has treated over the years he does not tend to see again now but hears they are doing good.

So all in all a very positive day, from which I am shattered. A nice hot bath for me now and bed I think! Big thank you to Graeme who has been a huge help to me for giving me the walking directions (found it no problem) and for his support and guidance the past few months. And of course to everyone else who has been supportive. Those of you reading this thinking that things will get worse and your life is over, I thought this a few months ago, and seeing a PT totally changed my outlook about this thing and my life.

Age:33 | Onset Age:19 | Symptoms:burning urethra, deep sore stinging around the perineum, dribbling | Helped By:when flare starts deep relaxing over a toilet to let out dribbling urine, hot bath, rubbing a heat cream on the perineum, Tens with a pad on the perineum, running, medication (solpadol) for pain. Current treatment: PT. | Worsened By:sitting, stressing over it, ejaculation, sometimes alcohol but I risk it. I encourage anxiety prone UCPPS people to consider L-Theanine
Age, 44 onset age 37 Feb 2006 Freq. need to urinate. Sensation of having to urinate soon after going. Perineum discomfort/burning/tightness, pubic area discomfort @ times, poor urine stream, post urine dripping/spray. All symptoms have improved with my protocol. At the worst I give it a 1 to 2 on irritation and discomfort and frequency. Helps: Elavil 5mg for anxiety and mast cell protection, (will only take it as needed) self internal PT as needed, stretching, walking, stairmaster cardio workout and light weights, reducing stress, moment to moment relaxation, deep breathing relaxation and using a Theracane. Makes worse: sitting for long periods, stress, over focusing on it. Currently 95%-98% recovered. Stay positive, relaxed and control your anxiety.
