Can over-masturbation cause CPPS? (Ockerdoc Case)
Can over-masturbation cause CPPS? (Ockerdoc Case)
Hi, i've been looking into chronic prostatitis / chronic pelvic pain syndrome for a few weeks now and I think my symptoms could well be neuromuscular. I'll give you a run down of my history. I had a one night stand with a girl I met and in the morning had erection problems and slight burning but nothing major. I had these erection problems (numbness) for about a year but no other symptoms. Then one night was feeling especially horny and masturbated about 5 times but on the 5th time I had what felt like a spasm when I ejaculated, it just felt weird. Then I had all the classic symptoms of prostatitis and went to see a urologist. He diagnosed acute bacterial prostatitis (he said he felt a hard mass) gave me Cipro for 6 weeks as they all do and it got better but also I was doing lots of yoga at the time which I think helped.I work in a microbiology lab so I cultured my semen and it came back as Staph aureus so I switched to Doxycycline for 2 months.
Anyway I had a cystoscopy which was fine and an MRI of the prostate came back as recurrent prostatitis. All this time though i've had a pressure deep in my abdomen on the right side and also what feels like right-sided nerve pain. When I drink coffee the pressure gets worse and ejaculate gets less which leads me to believe its the seminal vesicle. This nerve pain is relieved somewhat by stretching and internal massage. The nightmare is that i've got no erection whatsoever without cialis and sexual desire is non-existent which is very depressing.
I think I possibly started off with some kind of infection, then the masturbation caused some kind of muscle spasm and inflamed the nerves and prostate etc. I take quercetin which helps a lot which again leads me to believe its CPPS.
Also i've recently done a culture of my semen and its packed with normal flora bacteria, coagulase neg staphs. Don't think this is normal.
Symptoms right now are no erection, sex drive, frequency from time to time but not too bad, I only get up once in the night, lower back pain and right sided abdominal pain/pressure.
Can anybody give any advice on how to get my sex life back. I don't think there's any physios in the uk that do trigger point therapy. I've just bought headache in the pelvis so I'm hoping that'll help.
Anyway any guidance will be much appreciated. Its good to have found another avenue for the cause of this nightmare as I thought I definitely had an infection but now I'm pretty sure I've had/got both.
Cheers

Welcome,
My personel thoughts on ED and CP/CPPS is that after the onset of this condition, the mental stress of all of this leads to ED. Once you get control of the anxiety you can go from there.
Clearly wacking off 5 times in a row would just strain the whole pelvic region which I think has led to pelvic myoneuropathy. Basically you may have injured your pelvic muscles and nerves. The catastrophizing is feeding this thing and more neurogenic inflammation is taking hold of your pelvis.
I would go the SP route and read the book and go from there. Get your pelvic floor examined, stop looking at your semin in a microscope because that believe it or not only leads to more questioning and worry and stress and the vicious cycle continues. You have to break this cycle and for god sakes, no more jerking off 5 times in a row. The poor thing needs a long break
Been there done that

I encourage anxiety prone UCPPS people to consider L-Theanine
Age, 44 onset age 37 Feb 2006 Freq. need to urinate. Sensation of having to urinate soon after going. Perineum discomfort/burning/tightness, pubic area discomfort @ times, poor urine stream, post urine dripping/spray. All symptoms have improved with my protocol. At the worst I give it a 1 to 2 on irritation and discomfort and frequency. Helps: Elavil 5mg for anxiety and mast cell protection, (will only take it as needed) self internal PT as needed, stretching, walking, stairmaster cardio workout and light weights, reducing stress, moment to moment relaxation, deep breathing relaxation and using a Theracane. Makes worse: sitting for long periods, stress, over focusing on it. Currently 95%-98% recovered. Stay positive, relaxed and control your anxiety.

Re: New member from UK. Can overmasterbation cause CPPS?
Hi fellow UK sufferer! I think I possibly got mine from over masturbation too, plus stress and worry. I have the same symptoms as you, so I think yeah you have the same as the rest of us - welcome to the club. This board has been excellent in terms of support and guidance for me, and for others on here, so if I were you I would spend some time reading through all the posts, and in particular the success stories as it shows there is a way out of this.
By the way, where do you get your Quercetin from in the UK? I have been trying to take any accredited quercetin product but get stomach problems from the other ingredients it contains?
Also, with regards the frequency, mine comes and goes, at the moment and for the past week touch wood, I havent had any at all. I find that drinking tea brings it on sometimes, as does fizzy drinks. Try drinking Roobos tea instead, it also contains Quercetin (or however you spell it!)

Staph is a normal skin bacterium and is disregarded. It lives in the distal urethra (last 20mm or so) normally and it will appear in a semen culture.ockerdoc wrote:Also I've recently done a culture of my semen and its packed with normal flora bacteria, coagulase neg staphs. If you read about anything as long as I've read about this disorder, you eventually get good at it, whether you plan to or not.carld wrote:You will learn fast that you can't throw anything past Webslave. He's good isn't he....
It's interesting that some of the less scrupulous prostatitis "specialists" out there — *cough*Song*cough* — use the presence of Staph to convince men they have an infection.

Over masterbation
I was having sex with new girlfriend like two times a day when this came on and I do have pretty high sex drive so maybe there is something to sex or masturbation causing this. I think I like sex so much especially at night because it would make me relax, maybe I was trying to relieve stress and anxiety with sex which may have caused problem. But why wouldnt all the pornstars have this problem?
Age 32, onset 32 Onset Aug 07- frequency was main problem in the beginning-really bad. Now 1 to 2x per night when frequency flairs up. Sore and tight lower abdominal muscles. Occasional burning after bowel movement and full feeling. What helps: Healthy diet(this is huge for me) Started drinking super greens supplament and almost going totally vegetarian to get body more alkaline, starting Prosta-Q, quercetin/zinc tablet in morning helped frequency problem I believe. Massaging abs and doing stretches helps calm down frequency when it is acting up. Wine or vodka after long day. Flexeral and melatonin at night. Swimming and light weights. .5 of Elavil every other day helps with frequency and healing process. Trying to stay positive and not stressing over this!

yes is the answer to your question
the body requires recovery time
Age: 43 | Onset Age: 17 | Symptoms: previously: constant urgency, premature ejaculation, burning at tip of penis, pelvic ache current: semi annual flares. | Helped By: PT, yoga, stretch, keeping warm(long johns) boxer briefs, regular sleep routine | Worsened By: cystoscopy, antibiotics (fluoroquinolones) alcohol, coffee, stress, masturbation, cold
I have this same right lower quadrant abdomen pain which gets worse with coffee. It started about 4 years before this whole chronic prostatitis / chronic pelvic pain syndrome came on.Got a colonoscopy and everything was fine. Was told I have IBS. Think the internal med doc told me that cause he didn't know what it was. I also had the same strange spasm from masturbation shortly before chronic prostatitis / chronic pelvic pain syndrome came on. I wasn't masturbating that much though. Do you have the sensation like you are sitting on something also? All this time though I've had a pressure deep in my abdomen on the right side and also what feels like right-sided nerve pain. When I drink coffee the pressure gets worse and ejaculate gets less which leads me to believe its the seminal vesicle. This nerve pain is relieved somewhat by stretching and internal massage. Age:30 | Onset Age:27 Symptoms: Golfball sensation, cramping in the rectum, inflamed/tight levator ani, occasional frequent urination, mild constipation, occasional burning testicular pain, IBS. Helped By: Exercise, Stretching (Yoga) specifically a deep lunge or pidgeon, running, beer, alcohol, relaxing, deep breathing Worsened By: Sitting for long periods (even w/ doughnut cushion), Stress, tight pants, caffeine, coffee in particular Tests: Pelvic MRI, Colonoscopy, Anal Monometry, STD, Pudendal Nerve Block. Botox into obturator internis, levator ani, and piriformis. Meds Xanax, Phenibut (The phenibut works awesome, better than the Xanax in my opinion)
Thanks for the reply guys their much appreciated. I'm going to sift through all the posts and see if I can get any tips and find a physical therapist in the uk. I'm sure I read somewhere about a scottish guy seeing someone in this country. By the way I don't intend to whack off 5 times in a row again I assure you, i've learned my lesson the hard way. Me and my partner are trying for a baby aswell so it is a pain in the arse as I need cialis to get an erection!! and it isn't cheap!
Gary, are you in Cardiff, I live in newport now but I used to live just off albany road for 6 years, its a great city. I get my quercetin from holland and barret its pure so you should be ok with it, I don't have any stomach probs.
Rysocal I had that feeling when I first had the prostatitis but it feels ok now, I just have the frequency, nerve pain/pressure and loss of libido/erection.
And Webslave you've definately got a lot of knowledge about this disease, Can you give me any advice. Does the sex life usually come back?
Anyway take care and get well
UK lad

Yes I'm in Cardiff! If you feel like meeting up for a chat would be of benefit then drop me a PM. The only PT in the UK is based in Scotland. Bill Taylor I believe his name is and you can find his contact details on this site.

Re: New member from UK. Can overmasterbation cause CPPS?
Just an observation, not a sermon. Prior to the instantaneous availability of porn via internet/DVD, most would be satisfied by one ejaculation. The addictive, or quasi-addictive nature of porn, and having it on demand leads to someone masturbating 5 times in an evening. In my case, 3 is tops, but prior to online porn that wasn't even a thought. Point is, we'll probably be seeing more of this condition with time as the generation raised with online porn begins to tip the scale of pelvic stress as they age.

Why Constipation?
Does anybody know why with chronic prostatitis / chronic pelvic pain syndrome we have constipation. I used to be regular as clockwork but now I have to take senokot virtually everyday, its very frustrating. The inflammation must have a secondary effect on the bowels. Anybody know any good solutions or medications.
