Another TP found + relaxation tip

Continuing to do internal massage I have just found another trigger point. This one is located in the coccyx area and the weird thing is that this spot was not painful before. Through my sessions, I must have been able to dig further into the muscles and access this TP. Having then found 3 TPs in the sphincter area- meaning half an inch to an inch inside, I am pretty confident that this is really my problem area.

Another thing I thought I would share with you and some of you may have already seen this. In the interview with Dr. Anderson (see link below), he tells a bit about relaxation and how they usually teach their patients to relax the mouth and jaw muscles and this usually transfers into a more relaxed pelvis. This seems to work well for me as well. I guess, in tense situations, I have a tendency to not only clench the pelvic muscles, but also bite my teeth together. Relaxing the mouth and jaw, really seems to create a more relaxed state throughout the body.

Relax your mouth, tongue and eyes. I found at start of trying meditation practice that this was the only way to get the relaxation response for me....another tip I have found when you are pretty relaxed is to pretend you are breathing between the eyes just above your nose.

Speaking of which, did you do the internal massage yourself or by a PT?

I have been practicing Yoga ever since I was diagnosed with this a couple years ago. One of the first things that I learned was how by relaxing the muscles in the face (eyes, mouth, tongue) the rest of the body is able to relax itself a lot quicker. I guess because these muscles are constantly being used throughout the day that these are the muscles that are less likely to relax right away because they are used toalways moving. Being so far away from the source of the discomfort they may not even be considered as a form of helping one to relax.
But I have learned that even just by relaxing the muscles in the face that the rest of the body almost immediately follows suit. If I am not relaxing my face muscles I find that the rest of my body is not able to fully relax itself.
