Great News, Doc Says I'm Cured!

Post by iHurt »

 So as I've said in the past I'm getting ready to relocate to NC and this is my last week in Jersey. I went to my final uro appointment today before the move. I was going to cancel it because I stopped taking the Cipro when I found this web site. It was my 7th round of Cipro for god's sake, so you know. But I kept the appointment because I don't know how long I'll be without insurance in NC and I wanted to TRY to get something for pain, anxiety and muscle relaxers as per our protocol.

First thing the nurse has me do is pee in a cup, then asks how I'm doing. I tell her my sad story, I have the same relentless pain for 2 years, I can't work, I lost my house, and I want to kill myself. lol. She says he'll (the uro) be right in.

*magazine time*

Dr. Uro comes in and gives me the good news. "Your urine is clear and the infection has gone. You had a lot of PUS cells your first visit and now there are none. The antibiotics have done the trick." Hmmmm, I guess he meant the antibiotics I never took? Whatever. I asked him so why am I still in so much pain? He checks me for hernia and tugs on my testicles a few times (Aaaaaaaaaaargh!!!). Says everything looks fine, I should not be in pain. But I am in pain and now I'm getting pissed off. I complain to him that I have to wear a jock everyday just to get about 25% relief from the testicle pain, but its hot and uncomfortable. He just says "Good, wear the jock then." He tells me do the hot sitz bath. I've done that and it excaberates the pain. He says he doesn't know why it should not do that. Then I asked him what he thought of the possibility that I might have CPPS. He says no I don't have any of the symptoms. WTF? I'm sorry but when I read the symptoms you guys talk about, I've experience every single one but the burning. By now I'm starting to get tears of frustration. Finally to end the visit he tells me to be careful lifting and let him know how things turn out. He gives me a script for Flomax and another for Ultrcet and we go our seperate ways.

Familiar? Your Thoughts or encouragment are appreciated.
Age: 41. Symptoms: Testicular Pain, Perineum, Erectile Dysfunction, Premature Ejaculation, Frequency and Dribbling. Helped by: Lorazepam for anxiety, Ultram or Vicodin (if I can get it) for pain, Athletic Supporter (Jock). Makes worse: Hot bathes or showers or anything that causes my testes to hang too low. If I ejaculate I can count on 3 days of steady pain to follow.

Congratulations! It's good to hear yet another touching success story from a doctor's office.

Seriously. If you learn just one thing about pelvic pain, learn this: No one and nobody can heal you but YOU. This condition is something you are going to have to figure out on your own. This may sound mean, and harsh and unfair...but it's the truth.

Honestly, by the description of your doctor visit, it sounds as if he doesn't even care! It's up to you, my friend. But don't worry. We all are our own physicians. We are all able to heal ourselves. I used to think it wasn't possible. But it absolutely is.

Keep the faith. Learn all you can. Think outside the box. Don't listen to people who are still in constant pain. Listen to those who have successfully overcome this thing. If you haven't already, pick up a copy of "Headache in the Pelvis". This book is the closet thing I've seen to the truth in healing pelvic pain. Good luck. Tom

Yeah! What he said!

Seriously, iHurt, I'm sorry you went through that. He sounds full of crap. We've all had similar experience I'm sad to say.

It's important to remember that doctors are just people like us. Many of them are trained to recognize a cold, a flu, an ear infection, a bladder infection, etc... But they don't know everything. And what they say isn't gospel. I once had a friend (who was a pediatrician) tell me how whenever he didn't know what was wrong with a kid that came in, he would just tell the mother "it's normal for their age. don't worry about it." He laughed at how many times he had done that. HAHAHAHAH. I'm laughing too. Boy was that funny! NOT! It's an eye opener, for sure.

You have a lot of symptoms of CPPS, and I guarantee the collective members of our forum know more than he does about it. Don't listen to him. The anger you feel (which I've felt before too) will only make your condition worse. Just let it go, and his karma will take care of the rest.

Mike

Yeah! Now that you are cured, you can join us in recovering... from our doctors... hah.

Seriously, you can improve your situation, but doctors like that aren't part of the equation. There are more compassionate doctors out there. You will just need to keep looking. Its like car shopping. The lemons don't always seem like lemons until they just kind of die on you.

Just let them go as easily as they let you go. They don't deserve to waste your electrical neural activity in remembering them. (I'm not bitter, no. :x )

In the mean time, start stretching and relaxing. You'll benefit from it anyway. Besides, it will improve your bloodpressure before you visit your next doctor.

And in 50 years, when chronic prostatitis / chronic pelvic pain syndrome is treated more professionally, you can tell the youngins that they don't know how easy they've got it!

This is not medical advice, and I am NOT a doctor of medicine or a related field.
* Age:33 Onset: February 2004.
* 99.9% IMPROVEMENT in 2.5 Years with the first year being the really hard part
* Current Symptoms: Mild irritation of perineal muscles on occasion. Relieved for days at a time by a specific stretch (see below).
* Initial Symptoms: Terrible penile, urethral, rectal, and perineal burning/aching with addition afferent sensations.
* Current Treatments: Deep stretching of the legs and pelvis. Most effective: Deep psoas and levitar ani stretch using the first phase of the "pigeon pose" from Yoga. When a deep pulling is felt in the middle of the pelvis next to the upper rectum, symptoms are completely alleviated for several days.
* Past Treatments Hyperprotection of the perineum for 1.7 years, Walking, Rectal biofeedback, Stanford/Wise-Anderson Protocol, Conditioned deep relaxation practice, Men's Multi-Vitamin and an Extra B-complex pill, all seemed to help.
