I am virtually pain free and back to normal. I continue to take Librax on most days. Another product that really helped was the Prostaderm patch. That relieved my urinary symptoms.

I made the mistake of jumping back into too much sexual activity and now I'm paying for it. I did it 4 times in 1 week and the soreness returned. Do you guys recommend that I do absolutely nothing until I am completely symptom free for at least a week or should I go for once a week in a very gentle form. It's been 5 days since the last time and I am improving, but I still have some minor general burning and soreness in the groin area. Doing the hot baths again, taking the Lirax and valium when I need it. I am beginning to think I may have to give up sex completely. recommendations please!

I couldn't tell you--the whole ejaculation thing mystifies me.

I ejaculated on Sunday, and felt pretty good that day and Monday. Then I ejaculated on Tuesday and felt horrible--lots of dripping, frequency, etc.

So I'm not sure what the threshold is.

I find sometimes its not so much the frequency of how often you do it, but how relaxed you are when you do it. I think if you dont relax,or if you tense too much, this aggravates the area more and causes the frequency and pain.

And that's what happened, I didn't relax, I just did it too hard like I used to. Now that it's been more than 5 days I am feeling better and almost symptom free again. I will wait until I am feeling great for at least a week until I attempt this again. and then only once a week very gently for a while. Does that sound like a good plan?

Soreness the day after ejaculation

I have been limiting it to once per week at this point, but I still notice I am sore the next day after. I was thinking that I should rest it for 3 weeks and do nothing. Do you think that would help me?

No, 2x a week is good, relaxing all muscles all the way through. It takes a while to improve this aspect of the condition, and long abstinence is not helpful.

So you are saying that "resting" the prostate for a few weeks would not relieve this issue. It's really the last remaining issue for me. The day after I notice a little pelvic soreness and increased frequency, but it's not that bad; just annoying. I waiting an entire week this time and thought that would help. I read on some website that you should have no sexual activity for 3 weeks to rest the prostate. What is that a bad idea (aside from the fact that it's hard to abstain for that long? Also, if you say 2X per week, I am assuming you mean spacing it out. Why twice and not just once per week?

Yes, exactly. The prostate is not involved much, it's the pelvic nerves and the mast cells that are affecting you. Resting the area results in a build-up of prostatic secretions that can cause inflammation in some men. Not good.

Twice a week spaced out. You need to keep the secretions moving to avoid the pro-inflammatory effect of sequestered fluids full of mast cell degranulation by products.

Good advice. It's get really uncomfortable at 1 week anyway without doing it. That's makes a lot of sense.

I finally figured out all of the things that work for me. If I have any symptoms during the day, Ibuprofen and Librax. If it happens at night, I take a second Librax and some valium. I am mostly symptom free at this point and feel normal. The prostaderm patch helped me to get rid of the frequency problem. I am feeling great!

That is so great! You have inspired me, and I am sure others on here. Its so great to read the success stories, as there are times when I feel this will never go away.

Good luck moving forward!

That's great that you have found the drug combo that masks the pain...But what about dealing with the root cause which is stress, anxiety control, diet and dealing with the pelvic floor dysfunction. The pelvic myoneuropathy has to be worked on for the long term control of CP/CPPS....

Best, Carl...

It's not a question of masking the pain. My system has healed itself, for the most part, and the drugs are only used periodically now. If the pain comes back in a way I can't control, I will seek out PT, etc. I must say that reducing stress levels have helped. Also, I am careful about not having too many orgasms in a week (never 2 days in a row) and I make sure to relax during the process. My Uro expected me to make a full recovery and now after 5 months into it, I am almost back to normal.

Tascam, many people report cures that are not durable when reviewed 6 or 12 month down the track. I would urge you to keep on doing what you are doing, then come back and update us on the durability of your improvement 6m to a year from now. Unfortunately, many people mistake a remission, or the natural wax and wane of the condition, for a cure.
