Hey thanks for checking in.

Things are going a lot better, for the last month of so I've had very little pain thankfully. October 5th and onwards is a big test for me as I start my career as an accountant. We'll see how that goes but I'm building it up in my head big time :62_58_40:

I'm also going to a cognitive behavioral therapist a few times a month, hopefully that helps. I moved out with my girlfriend and it has actually reduced a lot of stress in my life.

How are you doing?

Quit my job, sticking with anti-depressant medication and practising moment to moment relaxation and my pain is very low, often I go for hours not feeling anything at all. I am way more aware of all of the muscles in my pelvic floor now and can feel when they are flexing or starting to tighten. Things are going pretty well....such a huge difference from 6 months ago. I was very much afraid that the pain would never stop and my life was over. Have faith that with a total attitude change, you pain will slowly subside.

Cheers,

Kevin

Hi, I had the same symptoms. I have noticed that anything that is stressful causes a flare up for a few days. I have learned that when I am feeling nervous or stressed out, to do something else. Sort of re-direct the negative/nervous energy that would otherwise be tightening my pelvic muscles. When you have sex do you tighten your muscles or over-strain them? Or possibly "holding" the erection with your pelvic muscles instead of letting it come natural?

Snoop..Don't be sorry! I got another job that pays twice as much and is way less stressful! Pain has pretty much gone away entirely..Sometimes I'll get some discomfort but I wouldn't call it pain per se. I have to constantly remind myself not to clench my pelvic muscles and that seems to do the trick. I have a strong feeling my problem was kind of like a cramping of the muscles down there since I do notice that I unconsciously clench my pelvis a lot during the day and yes mapletop during sex. I try to take everything in stride and have given up trying to control my world. I just let things happen and keep a smile on my face knowing that I won't always be uncomfortable and in pain and I can enjoy life without thinking about CPPS. I think take Zoloft had a huge effect as well, as I have an anxiety disorder and some elements of OCD. The Zoloft rids me of any anxiety and I don't focus on health issues or other things that I used to dwell on. Hope all well with you guys....send me a PM if anyone needs to talk...as you can all tell by my previous posts I've been at the very low end as well, thinking life was over and not being able to get out of bed for weeks.

Cheers,

Kevin M.

I don't think you can send pms on here. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Just checking in guys......

I'm still doing very well. I still feel the classic feelings once or twice a day but I quickly forget about them. I am about 95% and am very happy with my life :-D . I noticed that as soon as I have a rum based drink I immediately get a flare up in my rectum/perineum and tip of the penis. It goes away after about an hour and isn't that intense so I still indulge once in a while..

If anyone has any questions or just wants to talk email me at [ email address removed by admin at users request ]

Its been 1 year since this all started and my life has had many ups and downs but over the last few months I've reached the end of the tunnel and I feel reborn again. I'm much more chilled out and pleasant to be around. Everyone in my life has noticed a positive change in my attitude.

What helped me the most was 100mg a day of Zoloft to help with my anxiety/OCD, quitting my high stress job, relaxing and letting go of lifes many problems and frustrations.

Cheers,

Kevin

I'm bbaaaaaaaacckkk.

Started a new job and even with a year plus of little to no symptoms....pain is back again :boom: I was feeling very anxious and depressed for the last month or so and then finally on Sunday night last week I started getting the perineum pain and pain at the tip of my penis.

This time is different though...this time I have first hand knowledge that this can go away and I won't feel like this forever which makes me feel so much better. When I first got nailed with this disorder I had 3 months of hell and bitter depression which nearly cost me everything. I thought I was destined to live in pain forever when that is NOT the case...I got out of it by taking zoloft (which I am still on) and quitting my job and basically doing nothing all day and trying not care about anything in the world. It worked though and I had a very good year and few months. I had a feeling that it might come back as starting a new career can be one of the more stressful experiences in life. Hopefully when things start settling down and I get a good feel for my new position they will slowly go away once more.

I won't let this get me down, I refuse to give in to depression. I will find some drugs that help me deal with the pain aspect and start my ritual of massage and relaxation. Has anyone found any drugs that help with pain? Advil doesn't do a thing...my last visit to the doctor when I had my symptoms last year I was told that I had swelling and redness in my rectum..perhaps a strong anti-inflammatory?

Cheers, and keep your spirits up...it's a beautiful world out there and pain isn't an emotion!!

I've been on Elavil and Flexeril, 10 mg of each morning and night, it's been a total relief for me! I had 5 months of total hell until I too realized it could go away. No most days I'm almost pain free. The only thing that's annoying me is I have coldness in both my penis tip and in my testicles, this too comes and goes.

The relief I got was almost over night!! It's worth a try!!

I'm thinking about contacting one of the 3 PT's that live in my area (edmonton, Canada)....does anyone have an recommendations? I'm currently taking zoloft 100mg and 600mg of advil 3 times a day but I really think a muscle relaxant would help....when I wake up in the morning I have no pain for half an hour possibly due to relaxation. I find that I am not depressed about this at all this time and life continues to go on...but its only been a week so who knows. I feel silly that I did nothing to quell my anxiety when I started my new job in january. I had no pain at all for 2 months of work but was feeling anxious all the time....I should have taken steps to cure that instead of adding 2 months of tension to my pelvic floor. Such is life I guess! I am very much looking forward to that feeling of being reborn again and enjoying every pain free moment of life...there is nothing like it! I know I'll get there soon....

My family doctor seems to think that this can be treated with Zoloft but I really think combining some sort of pain management techniques would allow me to relax further than being in constant pain!

I'm in Edmonton as well, I'm currently going to a PT that knows all about CPPS. In fact I'm going to her Monday afternoon! She's been great, I've had 3 internal sessions which I think has been the answer.
