tiger wrote:having incurred over $100,000 in negative tests I can tell you that Webslave is probably 99% correct. You simply overgoosed your pelvic muscles and nerves and they have not recovered. I have been dealing with it for over 2 years and am not any closer to resolving it. I do believe the more you mess with it with injections, etc., the worse you may make it. However, I understand how counterintutive doing nothing may be. There probably should be another warning on Viagra . . .
That's why I don't want to do an unnecessary biopsy. With a PSA score of 1.3, a PSA Free score of 50% and a PSA Density of only .026, it is extremely unlikely that my 2 hypoechoic lesions are anything more than related to BPH or from the inflammation of prostatitis. I will see what the new uro says and also the experts down at University Of Miami. I am still looking for bacteria, but I feel there won't be any. In that case, I will do physical therapy and acupuncture.

Hey Tascam, welcome!
I say if your going to come down with CP/CPPS...Getting it the way you did it is the way to go...
Prostate cancer is not usually talked about here...but my opinion and understanding on PSA is this...
You can have a high PSA and not have cancer and have a low or normal PSA based on age and have cancer...So always listen to your doctor and get the biopsy done!! after you are cleared you can go full force into the many protocols we have here to recover slowly. Just reading your posts I can tell you are anxiety prone which is the fuel that feeds the fire for many CP/CPPS men.
Regards, Carl..

People don't realize how powerful and orgasm is and how it affects your body; especially when you are Type A, high strung, or just generally tense. My whole problem started exactly like yours did. Multiple orgasms daily for week and months on end. On April 6, 2007, I was sitting down stroking away and when I orgasmed - BANG. It was the first domino that started the flood and the dominos are still falling.
You will get better, but you are going to have to accept that you can no longer live your life the way you did. If you do, you will do nothing more than perpetuate your agony.
Trust me on this.

I totally disagree with this. A biopsy can be dangerous with complications and bleeding. Further, if a carcinoma is present, needle tracking can occur which can spread this cancer. That's why we do a PSA-F test. Scores above 25% along with a low PSA normally indicate a benign condition, along with a normal DRE. Yesterday, the new Uro agreed with me and prescribed a muscle relaxant. He said I had prostatodynia caused by my "activities". I will continue to monitor my PSA every 2 months and PSA-F 3 times per year. There is no way anyone is sticking needles into me unless:
PSA rises
PSA-F falls
MRI-S scan is done first, and then it's determined a biopsy is needed.

Hi there,
I must agree with Carl. When it comes down to something that potentially serious, there is a point when you must trust in the instincts and knowledge of your doctor. As much as we tend to discuss them in a negative light, they are very learned people.
I can't think of a single medical procedure or medicine that doesn't carry risks. Something as benign as taking an aspirin can kill you. Recently, I had an MRI, and the gadolinium contrast injection might have resulted in a serious allergic reaction. My upcoming caudal epidural injection can cause some bigtime problems. My point is, there are always dangers, but sometimes you've gotta let go and let Buddha (or insert deity). I avoided even minor scans for a long time due to an overall fear of medicine, and I regret that, because they revealed a number of back problems which explain my thigh/leg pain. Nobody would've guessed the extent of the damage at my age, but there it is.
Having said all of that, it's a great thing that your urologist chose to prescribe a relaxant. Sounds like he is interested in exploring the neuromuscular theory. If those and hot baths seem to help you, then I'd really encourage you to contact the physical therapist I mentioned. She'll speak to you by phone first, if you want.
Best,
Jay

All I'm saying is your scans came back not normal...there was something there..Right? I'm not a doctor and your choice to either do it or not is up to you only...I did not get better until I had a cystoscopy to rule other serous conditions out. Then I was able to accept my CP/CPPS and go from there.
The whole PSA testing is at best...an old school out dated approach to detecting cancer and a biopsy can be dangerous as well just like you stated. Especially if it takes a piece of normal tissue and doesn't get the cancer tissue and you get back a false possitive result. There are new tests that are in the works that will change prostate cancer screenings for the better...until then, this is what we have...
BTW...My dad died of prostate cancer that spread to his bones because he waited to long after his first urologist told him to get a biopsy...It killed him 12 years later in slow painful death!! We all suffered grately for his stubborness...I think my dad was 59 when he was told something was not right...
Good luck..Regards, Carl..

Carl, the new uro and 1 other one said the lesions were most likely benign and a biopsy was NOT recommended with my current PSA and PSA-F scores. Only 1 uro wanted to do a biopsy and he wanted to do it under general anesthesia. I will do MRI-S before I do a biopsy. The PSA and DRE are still the best predictors for prostate cancer. It's still possible to miss a cancer with a biopsy. New school is MRI-S. Old school is poking the hell out of your prostate when you have a normal DRE, low PSA and high PSA Free. I am convinced these lesions are benign and even if they weren't, I wouldn't risk needle tracking and possible migration cancer cells outside the prostate wall.

Cool...Believe me...I'm one for leaving the prostate alone!!
BTW...what muscle relaxant is your doctor giving you?...Benzos like Valium and Xanax are the ones that seem to help break the cycle, but be careful...
If you take a muscle relaxant like flexeril...that is a waste of time and causes retension and not at all helpful...
Also consider low dose Elavil 10mg or lower by cutting in half with a pill cutter. It is a mast cell protector and helps with anxiety issues as well.
Best, Carl...

Tascam, I would tend to agree with the new uro as well, and so perhaps you can put that issue behind you now. I would however suggest some monitoring of those areas for a few years, just to be sure.

I am taking
Librax. I have noticed an improvement after just 2 doses. The burning is disappearing, although I am getting a dry mouth and a mild sore throat. Almost anything is better than that urinary burning. I noticed when I was driving today, I didn't get the burning that I was getting while under stress so it must be relaxing the muscles. And if you've even been in S. Fla this time of the year, you know how horrible and stressful the driving is here. I cannot mix Xanax with this.

This worked! All of the pain and burning is gone and I am now almost back to normal after just 5 does of Librax. The Uro was right. Why did I have to see 3 Uros to have one suggest this. Lots of worthless incompetent Uros out there.

This is good news...The fact that Librax has qualities that are part of the benzo class of drugs and helped your condition, shows that anxiety and muscles are playing a big part in your symptoms... So seeing a qualified PT to check your pelvic floor could be the way to go for you

I have noticed after a week of relief that some of the burning and frequent urination is coming back. I am wondering if I am building a tolerance to this drug or if this could be a food allergy since I started eating again after my master cleanse. I am concerned about wheat or possibly chocolate in the form of these rice syrup sweetened fudge bars. Also, during the week I was fasting, I didn't take PEENUTS and now I have added those back. Any ideas? Back to the Uro on Thursday.

Saw the Uro again today. Surprisingly, the burning was just temporary again, but he suggested I double the Librax when I need it and add some valium to the mix on occasion.

With out reading this entire thread...Are you doing any relaxation? or stretching? also have you got a copy of "A headache in the pelvis? and or have you looked into a PT for pelvic floor dysfunction from stress and anxiety etc...?
Also food intolorances can also be a key here...
