What part of NJ do you live in? I'd highly recommend going to see Dr. Echenberg in Bethlehem, PA. He is extraordinarily thorough and set me on the course to recovery.

Any idea what the costs are for an assessment with Dr. Echeberg is? I know he does a 3 or 4 day session or a one day intensive.

Re: Suffering Alone
The assessment, if I remember correctly, is $500 or $600. It's very thorough; he spends about three or four hours with you, doing a physical inspection, having a thorough discussion of your history and goals, and planning a course of treatment.

My story (21 years later)
I was 2O years old when I first had chronic pelvic pain and was diagnosed with CPPS or Non bacterial prostatitis which ever name they change it to. Over the years I have seen countless doctors and had more tests than I can count. As the years went by as I search for cures with PT, biofeedback and numerous failed medications, I lost many friendships and my career was suffering. Every time things would start to improve another hurdle, death of my father from prostate cancer, being diagnosed with IBS and Costochondritis which just added to the pain and debilitating symptoms. I am at the point where I just go to the urologist for my yearly PSA test. I have come to point where I don’t know what else there is to try and what tests I should take again. Can anyone else relate?

Re: Suffering Alone
Mike K., one of the ex-moderators from this forum, had a similar relentless course to his condition, and also started to experience what doctors believed was ankylosing spondylitis (inflammatory arthritis affecting the spine and large joints), to the point where a couple of years ago he contacted me to basically say goodbye, he was going to check out. But I encouraged him to undergo more tests, and 6 months later they discovered that he had haemochromatosis (excess iron in the body). They started treating him by drawing off blood, and the last time we spoke he was much improved and enjoying life again.
I'll go as far as saying that if the many strategies we discuss on this forum do not help you, and you are genuinely reading through everything and trying everything, then there is probably something else wrong with you besides CPPS.
However, that said, the fact that you have IBS ( a commonly comorbid condition with CPPS), and the fact that a family death affected your condition (stress commonly makes CPPS worse, and can trigger relapses and flares), still points to standard vanilla CPPS. Which is good news, actually.

Re: Suffering Alone
I'm new and do not know much but I've read Headache in the Pelvis. Been doing my own internal therapy. It has actually helped unless it's coincidence I can't be certain. Also my father found out 4 weeks ago he has prostate cancer so you're no alone w that either.
